Very solid and high end finish, if your door is less than 2” thick you need to either cut/grind the screws and clean up the threads or you won’t be able to tighten/suck the inner and outer plates in tight to the door (my door was 1.75”) There is no template provided to aid laying out the cuts, it’s more than just cut a hole for the flap the hinges need to be recessed. Expect a little trial and error to get the clearance for the swinging doors. Overall I’m very happy with the look and function very well made. You need a drill, saw I used a recip demolition saw with a wide blade and fine teeth. A file and chisel to relieve for the hinge that extends beyond the cut needed for the swinging door. Again: A Template to mark the cuts and holes would have been helpful

This is just what I needed. With COVID getting info from my clients was becoming an issue. This mail slot solved that problem completely. My clients can easily use the mail slot and their information is safe a secure. This is also a very attractive, sturdy piece and installation was a snap.

I would have given it 5 stars if the installation was easier. FYI…I’ve been a general contractor for over 50 years and even I was swearing up a storm. The designers of this should had made the bolt sleeves longer to make it easier to reach and screw in the bolts. Also I have 1 3/4 thick doors and the screws were too long. No biggy, I just cut them but c’mon. I think they were trying to make a system that generally fit all doors and in the process just overthought it to a point where the installation is an awful balancing act.

the front and back plates have buckled after one month...gets full sun outside in morning in southern CA but I did NOT expect it to expand to point of a space between slot and door iin and outside :( Beautiful to look at, not good for sunny warm climate.

I agree with other reviewers that have indicated that this is a nice product but not the simplest to install. It is worth the extra effort, though. This is much better than a cheap sheet-metal alternative from the big-box home improvement centers. If you're handy, you can install this and will be glad you did.

The slot looks good once you install it. It is difficult to install. It is hard to insert mail fully. The spring that closes the outside flap is not stainless steel, it corroded and snaps. You are left with a very drafty mail slot. To install it you need to cut a very large hole in your door. Once it breaks you have no choice other than buying another one. I contacted the seller trying to buy a replacement spring. They responded saying there is no spring on the slot. They obviously didn't even bother to look at the product. The didn't respond to when I told them where the spring is located. I would seriously recommend you not butcher your door to install this product that doesn't last very long.

Lovely finish, solid design and construction. I installed it through a stucco wall into my garage. I removed the inside flap door just by bending the hinge axle, since I really wanted the mail to go in more easily. Measure carefully, and if you are going through stucco make the 4 corner holes big enough to line up (I had to fiddle with it, but that was my poor skill). Plan on hitting the hardware store to buy shorter screws or washers if you want it to fit tight. I don't view this as a fault, as they cannot possibly provide hardware to suit every application. Mine looks awesome!

Good quality and looks great. Far better than what I could find elsewhere at big-box or on-line. Also many times the cost of those other ones, and worth it. Same as some others, the screws supplied were too long for the thickness of my door. But the installer had the right tool to cut them down, so it was easy for him (maybe 3 extra minutes.) Otherwise it might require a trip to the hardware store to get shorter screws. This was the only stainless mail slot I could find, so it was this one or none. I'm really happy with it.
