Great Chip
Great CPU. Still highly capable in today's market, and overclocks like a beast. I got this thing up to 5.00GHz at a measly 1.32V--so it's a bit of a golden chip. It is ridiculously snappy in the OS and keeps up with my 3080ti much better than before, with better 1% lows.It's a little expensive for what it is these days, but they don't make them anymore, so you're paying the deadstock prices. That being said, if you can get a 9700K for a good deal, do it. Its a super fun, super capable little chip. Prompt shipping and well packaged too.

I'm upgrading from a 4790k. If you own something from recent generations, then upgrading may be unnecessary (depending on your disposable income). The question of whether Hyper-threading is right for you is up to your application. Gaming benefits from clock speed over core count once a minimum core count is reached. I think the was Intel's rationale in offering the 9700K. It's a budget 8 core unlocked 9th gen cpu with no Hyper-threading.The 9900K is the obvious superior choice for multi-threaded operations and encoding. If you're looking for a powerful encoding cpu for broadcasting/recording, the 9900K will be a budget buy beating out the entry X-series HEDT chips by at least half the price.If you are looking for a high performance gaming cpu, this should be on your short list. Gaming benchmarks comparing the 9700K v 9900K show negligible differences. I'll leave the AMD debate/comparisons for others.I'll let the benchmarks I've attached speak for themselves, but here is the tldr.I overclocked to 5.1Ghz using XMP I, DDR4 3200MHz. I turned off Speedstep and Speed shift as this brought me more stability when playing games, specifically LoL.Idles at ~40 degrees @1.359-1.368v. Under load ~80 degrees @1.376-1.385v.I have included benchmark screen shots (each paired with the corresponding HWMonitor results) from CineBench, CPU-Z, 3DMark Time Spy Benchmark & Stress tests. I'm extremely happy with the performance of this processor. It runs warm, but an overclocker should be prepared for advanced cooling solutions.

Easy upgrade.
Install was simple, needed a bigger fan to handle the light bulb power requirements. Windows didn't initially recognize the upgrade, had to run msconfig as follows1. Click Start, type “msconfig” (without the quotes) in the Start Search box and then press ENTER.2. In the System Configuration window, click the Boot tab.3. Click the Advanced Options button.4. Check mark the Number of processors box.5. Click on the 1 below to open a choice box, and click then on 2. If the choice box does not open, you don’t possess a multi-core processor and won’t be able to use this tip.6. Click OK.7. Windows jumps back to the system configuration window. Click “OK”.8. You will be asked to reboot the PC. Save all open files, close all open applications, and then click Restart. The modifications will be immediately effective.

This thing burns - literally and figuratively
Installed this on a Z390 Gigabyte Aorus Master, under a Corsair h115i with Conductonaut like Tom's Hardware said to do. Out the box it's running 4.9 for 1 core, 4.8 for 2-4 cores, and 4.7 for more than 4 cores. Without tweaking any settings, voltages are in the mid 1.2's. In general gaming use, temps run in the mid-50s with this rig, but the XTU benchmark can push them into the 60s. A few half-hearted attempts at overclocking reveal that this chip, like many of its kind, isn't particularly happy with AVX over 4.7, and some of the cores seem more susceptible to this than others. Still, I couldn't get it over 80 degrees C; platform instability happened first, at 5.1 with an AVX offset of -2. (5.1 at -3 ran at 1.4 with not much other tweaking required). Combined with a couple Samsung NVME drives (512G Evo and 1TB Pro) and some 3200 GHz LED RAM, boot times are superfast (with Fast Boot on) - blink and you miss it.I was able to push a 7680x1440 three-monitor rig to 60 fps minimum in GTA Online; average framerates were in the 90s, though nVidia Surround had me limited to 60 Hz. The same 1080Ti could only do 23 fps minimum with my prior rig, which was Z77/[email protected] GHz based.Nearly any other game I can push my ROG PG279Q to its full framerate of 165 Hz without difficulty. I like to play Rocket League at 250 fps to minimize input lag and was pleasantly surprised to find that I could keep it over 200 and still get what that game calls "quality" graphics on both the single-monitor and triple-monitor setups. I'm old enough that I'll take whatever edge I can get!Install was a snap, watch a video if you're worried about it. Computer booted fine the first time I turned it on - if you can turn a screwdriver you can build a PC. And this processor is the one to get - I expect to be future proof for many years!

Not bad but DEPENDS on your Uses.
If you are someone who is modest to gaming, editing, or using somewhat intensive applications on your computer than I would recommend getting the i5-9600K or i5-8600K. The i5 600K line is honestly not different at all from this. You see the performance more in this CPU if you have multiple applications open, have been streaming and playing on the same computer for a while, gaming and keeping an eye on your frames somewhat or consistently or you are an editor. Like you actually edit videos not like edit photo slide shows on windows movie maker.I am a college student majoring in Computer Hardware Engineering so I use my PC to do school work, Game and to do projects or presentations on whatever Adobe Program I have to use. Sometimes we use Google but still. I usually have multiple applications running and I've been PC gaming since 2017 so I felt as spending the extra $107 (i5-9600K was priced at $192 at the time of typing this review) was worth it. Again, this all depends on your uses but I have gotten solid performance, as expected from Intel and an i7 Processor. I have gotten 80+ to 100+ FPS on games (I play on Very high or Ultra settings, this depends on the game) on 1080P paired with a GTX 1080. Multi-tasking is a breeze and applications still work flawlessly. Only downside I can think of is there's not much of a difference between this and a i7-8700K. Other than that if Price is not a concern for you and you want arguably a good reliable and good performing CPU, Then GO FOR IT!!

Proper gaming PC if it has an adequate cooling solution
I upgraded from the i5 9400F. I didn’t want to change my motherboard to accommodate the ene-of-the-line 10th generation intel processor. I change up every few years and I think it is more prudent to wait until the 10nm fabrication this time around.I bought the processor for gaming and VR. At first I was getting major loss in fps at 80-90 hz on a 165hz hertz monitor (HP Omen 27i IPS display, 1440 res., 165 hz). I have Noctua NH-U95 cooling it with one fan, which isn’t enough. It would exceed 75C without overclocking under full load. Once I added a second fan attached to the heatsink, and one above to vent of out the warm air, it never exceeds 60C and idles at 30C!Paired with a Strix overclocked gtx 2070 and having 32gb of DDR4 memory, I can play almost any PC game at full quality and all VR games. H-K: Alyx is pretty cranked up as far as quality and it runs smoothly. The 9400F was noticeably maxing out in performance. While the 9700K is only around 12-14% faster, it is enough headroom to smooth out performance in gaming. Everything also felt snappier as far as desktop usage. It should give me enough processing power until the next advances in transistor fabrication.This processor probably doesn't overclock well with the performance hit it takes at higher temperatures. Inadequately cooled, the CPU Benchmark was 89%. Once I increased the airflow, it came in at 100%. With my 9400F, the gaming PC score was around 90%. With the 9700K, I’m at 108%. Unless you’re gaming, the 9400F is more than adequate for most needs.

Not sure how it compares to Ryzen CPUs vis-à-vis price to performance ratio, but the i7-9700k is certainly a very capable chip nonetheless. It runs hot though, so do make sure you have adequate cooling.

Lo tengo con un Cooler Master ml240l a 5.1ghz 1.35v y no sube de 75-80 grados, mi temperatura ambiente va de 14-24 grados.Estube a punto de devolverlo para sacar el i9 de la misma linea, pero la verdad es que este procesador ya es un overkill para cualquier tarea, ya sea gaming, streaming, diseño, etc no hay una sola cosa que no le puedas tirar y corra al maximo.Este procesador no es para jugar con un monitor promedio ya que queda muy de sobra, esto es para gente que está buscando muchisimos fps, jugar en altas resoluciones o para trabajos pesados. Para computación del dia a dia está demaciado sobrado.
