Packed with action, intrigue, trickery, and love, A Child's Introduction to Norse Mythology acquaints kids with the original North Germanic and Scandinavian folklore behind characters like Thor and Loki, plus other gods, goddesses, giants, dwarves, and more. The newest book in the best-selling, award-winning A Child's Introduction series explores the popular and captivating world of Norse mythology. Organized into two parts, part one introduces characters like Odin, the leader of the Norse gods; Thor and his mighty hammer Mjollner; Frigg, weaver of the destinies of humans and gods; frost and fire giants; cunning dwarves like Brokk and Eitri; and many more. Part two tells the stories of the suspenseful myths themselves including The Creation of the Cosmos, The Aesir-Vanir War, Loki Bound, Thor's Hammer and many more. Full of charming and witty illustrations from Meredith Hamilton, a Norse name pronunciation guide, and a removable Norse Family Tree, A Child's Introduction to Norse Mythology is the perfect way for kids to learn the historic stories behind today's popular mythical characters. Review: Easy read to fill my young Heathen with knowledge - This has become a treasured possession for my young heathen. It does a beautiful job explaining the creation of the world, gods, goddesses, giants, and so on. The text is big and easy for a first grader to read with help of the big words. The images are fun and have a watercolor look to them (I’m no artist, so I could be wrong) we love how detailed it is, and from my understanding of the Norse Deities, I find it an accurate representation of what we know. Review: We love this book. - This book is an absolute favorite at our house! We homeschool and every day for the past few week, we read one (or part of one) of these stories at lunch time. Even the pickiest eaters and busiest kids can be summoned to the table because these stories are so fun and engaging. They are written in an accessible, conversational way that makes the characters relatable. I am so glad we got this book, as well at the Greek mythology that we will be starting next week. It’s always a pleasure to read and sparks good conversations. For reference, my kids are 8,7,5, and 3. Some of the content is a little shocking - death, dismemberment, etc. but they don’t seem to be suffering. It’s part of the novelty of reading something a bit more grown up.

Absolutely amazing!
I ordered this book as a baby shower gift, my sister in law wanted books instead or cards. I ordered this book and one other one. When we got the book and looked at it I can say it is absolutely made with such attention to detail and with great quality. It breaks everything down to make it easy for our young ones to learn the history of our people and rhe family tree that's included just makes it that much more special! We'll be ordering another one for our 5 year old daughter soon. Definitely reccommend this book!

Great Introduction!
This is a great introduction to the Norse myths. As a Heathen parent, it was great to find a book on Norse mythology and Sagas that wasn't using overtly derisive language or speaking from an obvious and biased Christian perspective. The writing in this book remained unbiased and only gives the stories and their details without adding unnecessary author input. I liked the little sidebar blurbs that went into greater details and that also offered challenges (such as finding how many times the number '9' appears in the stories or that Frigg is the only other God allowed to sit on Odins throne in his hall). Excellent book, I am very pleased!

Awesome children's book!
We were searching for a book with longer stories so that we could sit and read to our newborn for a longer period of time. This book is interesting, well illustrated & even captured our attention! Stories are well written and the book also provides good background information that prefaces the stories.

beautiful images
Just finished grade 4 Norse Mythology for our Waldorf homeschool. This was a great resource with beautiful watercolor images. To prepare the story I would read both this book and the D'Aulaires one and figure out which I liked better. My daughter enjoyed displaying the poster on the wall as well. Some reviewers have said they didn't get the poster, but it is attached to the very last page of the book and tears out on a perforated edge.

Great read
Not sure who loved this book more, me or the kids! I loved sharing the stories with them and they loved hearing them and seeing all the pictures as well. Was a great excuse to sit and read with kids, not that I need one! Beautifully put together

Uma excelente reunião das lendas nórdicas. Vale o alerta que apesar de ser um livro para crianças. As histórias são pesadas, como costumam ser as lendas.

Good Introduction for Kids
As someone with a passionate interest in the mythology & history of North-West Europe, I was a little wary buying a children's book that tackles the subject. However, I think this book does a good job at introducing the gods & myths, as well as things such as Yggdrasil, to children in a way that's interesting & enjoyable. The artwork is well done, simple but illustrates things well. The gods look as they are described in the source material for the most part, which can't be taken for granted nowadays! Great gift for kids already interested in mythical worlds, fantasy, etc.

Kann man kaufen it's okay for it's prime. The pictures though... meh
Ist ok, die Bilder sind naja... aber halt kindgerecht auch für kleinere. Wo die geschichte nicjt ganz hin haut kann man ja dazu erzählen was man weiß. Schade das es solche guten Angebote nur auf Englisch gibt.
