Perfect fit! Don't ignore the warning signs of a failing valve!
Excellent direct replacement part. It was a perfect fit, arrived quickly and most of all it stopped the massive leak that was flooding my living room. The seals on the original value had gone bad and I missed the indication that we had a problem until it was too late. The flow rate lever should move easily and our old one was almost impossible to adjust. Ultimately the seals failed and water began to leak. If you find yourself struggling to adjust the flow rate I would go ahead and put this part on order before you have a tsunami of aquarium water on the floor! Thankfully this is an affordable way to avoid an insurance claim for water damage.

Works Well, Could Be Better Constructed
I use several canister filters in my aquariums; amongst them Fluval 05 and 06 series filters. The Aquastop feature is a nice addition since you can remove the canister for cleaning without actually having to remove the intake and output hoses for the filter. This necessitates the need to have to reprime the filter after you have returned it to your aquarium. The only caveat is that the Aquastop latch mechanism is cheaply made and usually warps after a year or two, preventing the Aquastop fitting from being properly seated in the canister housing. The Aquastop fittings are not overly expensive, however, it would be nice to have a slightly heavier gauge latch which would prevent this from occurring.

functional replacement
The fact that these break so easily is a reason Fluval canisters aren't my favorite filters. Terrible design. That said, this replacement part works great. Just hope it won't break.
