I bought this to steady my hand when drilling flat and round surfaces with a battery powered drill. I've made short term jigs and found them barely adequate after one or two holes (and the drill path on the jig has to be perfectly square and perpenducular which was a challenge on my old drill press). This tool is durable, well made, and properly locates center on a round dowel as small as 3/8" which is the smallest round I use. I no longer have to set up a v block on the new press to center drill on round surfaces. This is great because I don't have to disassemble an item, carry the part to the press, make the setup, drill, them put my object back together just to make one accurate hole. The selection of sizes of bits that can be used is limited, but sufficient to handle almost any furniture, woodworking, or sculpture needs. Can drill metal pipe accurately as well using the jig. Even on a compound curve it can help to ensure a perpendicular to the tangent in one dimension while you rely on hand and eye for the second insted of trying to see 90 degrees from the side while looking straight. I have been drilling holes in wood for as long as I can remember. I thought this could come in handy when your hole needs to be as accurate as possible outside a drill press which doesn't work so well on walls. I am building a stand for a couple of rain barrels using 2x6 lumbar and initially I had to screw the corners together before I reinforce with some Strong-Tie. Using 3 1/2" screws I wanted to drill some pilot holes to prevent the wood from splitting so I decided to try this block to keep my holes from angling off. I marked off my screw location and with this tool made every hole as straight as if I were using a drill press. What I did was put my long bit thru the matching size hole then positioned my bit against the wood where I was drilling. I slid this block up against the wood giving me a flat support and it worked like a charm. Even between corner braces I was using on top and bottom of the boards. As long as this last flat you can't run your bit off on an angle so when you are in a position where you can't see if your drill is perfectly level and in line with your work well this solves that problem. I'm going to invest in more of these to cover other size bits as this will come in handy day hanging shelves especially hanging shelves where you are drilling into structure and you can't afford to have you screw come out of the stud because you were on an angle. When it matters, when the hole I need such as in my rain barrel stand then this tool really is priceless. I do a lot of fabrication work and sometimes I need to through bolt stuff and sometimes the holes are off center. This takes care of that. Only down side I would say is that it’s not magnetic so I do have to clamp it down to get it to stay when I’m using it.

I saw this on YouTube. Easy to use. Put your drill bit in the right hole. Place the bit on your mark. Hold the block down and drill.

This tool is a huge help for drilling straight and true holes. The guides are smooth and clean. They line up the drill bit at a perfect 90 degrees to your work and all you have to do is drill. Keeps me from making easy or lazy mistakes.

Very handy jig type guide to have around for drilling applications. Simple but useful design and quite sturdy. Versatile and easy to use. Small enough to carry in your pocket. You can probably make one of these from some scrap wood and metal tubing but it wouldn’t be as accurate and durable as this one. Bargain price

Quality product. This is my second purchase of this since I keep one at my shop and this one is for my home garage.

Because of the vibration from drill,it’s hard to keep this tool completely steady when holding it by hand.

Be careful with this. The product picture shows metric measurements in mm which is what I wanted. The actual product received has imperial measurements in inches. I'm not sure if there are two different versions or if the hole sizes are identical on both and they have labelled one slightly inaccurately. I will measure the holes and find out. 1/2 inch would be closer to 13mm than 12mm. *They sent me out a proper replacement quickly to be fair and it is not a bad product. As longas you receive the correct product it is decent.
