Amazon Basics Wood Wobble Balance Board

A simple, well-constructed, sturdy balance ball. I'm 86kg, 6'4", with size 12 shoes, and I find this balance ball reassuringly stable and sturdy. I have started using the balance ball every day at my standing desk. The board is simply constructed with a plywood top and a fixed, hard plastic sphere underneath. There is no padding on the board, and the black grip tape is very grippy! So you cannot just wear socks, as they will stick, and bare feet would be uncomfortable after a time. I use trainers which provide the padding and support I need. I use it on a hardwood floor and do not find that it marks the floor, nor does it slide around. I wanted to improve my balance and core strength so I would find it easier to stand on my paddleboard. Get rid of my shaking legs and rigid stance. After a couple of hours getting used to it, I find that I can move freely around on the board whilst standing and typing. It keeps me flexible and occupied, preventing tiredness in my legs and feet. It is a great beginners balance board and really good at the desk.

This is a bargain for people wishing to improve balance and proprioception. It encourages awareness of how the body is moving to counteract the wobbling of the board, thus helping put weight more evenly through both legs. I have used similar boards before and quite enjoy the challenge of tipping from side to side (without falling, of course) and am working on being able to fully rotate. For people new to such things, use it next to a wall or windowsill to help initial balance. Even holding on, circulation is improved. I don't know how long it will last, but it seems very robust and great value for money.

It a solid piece of kit, good quality and does what it needs to do! I would recommend sanding the grippy surface a little before use, I have gotten 2 tiny black splinters in my foot from it, I used 180 grit sandpaper for the rough grippy bit to clear the splinterly bits and then 320 grit to tidy it up. Didn't need much more than a light sand.

Made of wood. Good grip for the feet. Excellent wobbling. This is good for balance, proprioceptors/ankle balance. It takes practice, but will improve balance including strength of proprioception. Affordable, but still good. Recommend.

The positives are:- This is well made from thick plywood and able to support my weight, unlike my old plastic board which cracked. The anti-slip surface is effective. The value for money is also good. The negative:- it's quite tall and very wobbly - that might be fine for some people, but I really need a chair back in front of me to grab onto in case I get thrown across the room.

Looks basic, but it’s all you need and does the job. Easy to use, lightweight and easy to store away. It’s not very big, but all you’re doing is standing on it. Was recommended this by a nurse who was checking out feet problems. I do a few exercises before finishing off just standing on the balance board-no hands.
