how do you turn the hourly chime off?

press bottom left side twice ;you will be in alarm mode press top right to turn off or on daily alarm and hourly chime. press bottom left button again twice to bring you back to time mode. hope this helped.

What is the longevity of the battery?

I'm sure the battery will outlast the watch. My watch had a broken button and the El back light didn't work. Customer service refused to help. I'd buy with caution.

Just received watch but my LED display light doesn’t provide lighting

The display is not bright but readable in most lighting conditions. There is always the upper left or right center buttons that light the display. If your watch does not follow these conditions you need to return it.
