This is a great case for the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9. It has all the right cutouts and has an included stylus, which is very helpful. The purple is a nice color and does not distract from the screen. I am very happy with it except for one small thing. The manufacturer claims that it works with the sleep sensors, but it does not. This is not a deal breaker for me, though; I just use the button to turn it on. I researched a lot of cases for the HDX and chose this one. Grab it before the price goes up any more than it has already.UPDATE: After using this case for about six months, the tab that holds the HDX in place has loosened considerably, and the HDX slides down. The cutouts are therefore not properly aligned, which causes a few problems. When using the camera, I have to make sure the HDX is pushed way up in the case or there will be purple from the case showing on the photo. Also, because of the sliding and non-alignment, the lower volume button is almost hidden. This is a problem, especially when trying to take a screen shot. To make a screen shot now, I have to remove the HDX from the case. So...I did some research and bought  Poetic Slimline Case for New Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 (2013) 8.9inch Tablet Lavender (3 Year Manufacturer Warranty From Poetic)  and am very happy with it. Because the HDX snaps into it, the controls are easily accessible. It is also a lighter case but still protective.

This case is priced right, decent construction and most important it's light weight. The screen protector and the stylus was a nice bonus but a little cheap. The only issue that's annoying rather than a deal breaker is the pop up diagram when it's in camera mode. It's right smack in the middle of the screen telling you to slide the Kindle up if you want to use the rear camera...all the cutouts are aligned and the Kindle is so snug that it's slid up as far as it can go! When you switch to facetime there's no popup...weird. I noticed some other reviewer called Mayday for help but couldn't figure it out. I'm surprised not every review recognizes this anomaly. I wonder if all these cases by other brands do the same thing. Oh well...I'll just have to wait til a better one comes along. Amazon...you made a good one for the Kindle HD surely lightening can strike twice here for the HDX.

I like how my kindle is secure in this case and not just held in by elastic. The buttons are not obstructed and the angle is good when watching a movie. I do have issues when I'm reading a book and want to get back to the main screen. For some reason I have to pull the case out a little to slide my finger under so I can swipe the menu bar up. Sometimes it takes several tries. That's a little irritating. But other than that it has kept my Kindle looking pristine. My Kindle also powers on from sleep with no problem when I open the flap. I don't use the camera on mine but both lenses are also unobstructed in this case. As are the speakers.

I was looking for something lightweight, thin and durable to safely tuck my Kindle in. I have had this case for 2 days and for the money, I just don't feel this fits the bill. While it did meet my initial requirements, I seem to get distracted by the awkwardness of the Kindle sleeve. It bothered me so much that I eventually logged onto Amazon for a closer look at the pictures to see if the encasing was stitched on the wrong way. It appears to be correctly stitched but this just confirms the clumsy design. I think a pocket or sleeve on the inside cover would have been a really nice added feature. I had one on my previous case and it was convenient to tuck my airline tickets or receipts in there. The stand takes quite a bit of manipulation and effort to put into place. Even then, it won't stay and you absolutely can not depend on it to keep the Kindle in the longitudinal position. It falls over. Very flimsy. The feedback from others about the camera-- you simply can not take a picture when the Kindle is in the sleeve. You have to grapple to remove the Kindle, therefore putting the Kindle at risk for dropping...and isn't that why we bought the case in the first place?

This case is great for the value. The stylus is a nice touch. I took a star away because the film that comes with it to put on the screen doesn't go on without some bubbles. Also, another star taken away because it only stands in one position. Still, I would buy it again. P.S. Just wanted to add no problem in seeing what you are taking with rear or front camera. This is a deficient bonus. Some reviewers stated they had a problem seeing subject on rear camera. No problem with this case.

This cover suits my needs perfectly, it is not too heavy and it protects my kindle. I, too, have the problem other reviewers have mentioned about being unable to take a picture with the cover on, but as I don't really take pictures with my kindle that isn't a drawback for me. The purple color is very nice and for the price, I could not be happier. I took away 1 star because of the picture issue, which should be fixed.

This is a very nice case for a reasonable price. My only complaint is, when I use the camera on my kindle, I get a pop-up window telling me to push the device up. It still takes a great picture, you just can't see the whole picture in the view finder. It seemed to take a very long time to receive it, but I would still recommend it.

This is a great buy! I bought it after I bought the kindle keyboard. This is great to take and it helps protect it as well and it comes with s stylus!! The only issue I had was I was recording my husband's band (just one song) one night and forgot to remove the kindle from the protector and I didn't get a good sound.
