Large Pieces, Fresh Rich Flavor and Well Packaged.
I was very much impressed with Hammons Fancy Large Black Walnuts. The rich aroma and rich taste of these Hammons Fancy Large Black Walnuts brought back memories of my family harvesting our own black walnuts long ago on the farm. I had closely researched Hammons Fancy Large Black Walnuts and felt Hammons was the company to trust and purchase the black walnuts I needed from them. Black walnuts purchased in those small packets in the supermarkets have always been rancid and had a "dusty, mealy, gritty texture". I found I was always having to use black walnut extract to get the taste I was looking for when baking or cooking. These are fresh, large, clean, flavorful pieces of black walnuts rich in the black walnut oils that provides that unique aroma. I purchased these Hammons Fancy Large Black Walnuts to use in the making of a pound type cake that my family has loved to eat for more than 80 years. If you have ever hand collected black walnuts in the woods on your farm and removed the outer hulls and washed and dried the hard shelled walnut and then cracked and "picked" them you know that the price Hammons charges is worth every dollar you pay. My cake turned out wonderfully. It tasted and smelled rich with black walnuts and full of memories of "home and the farm". Buy Hammons Fancy Large Black Walnuts and you will be happy you did.

Got what I paid for!
I ordered these for my mom who loves black walnuts. She was very pleased with them and said that they came packaged well and were fresh tasting.

Great value and quality
For black walnuts these are large size chunks, relatively uniform in size. Having grown and picked these at home, I know how hard the shells are and extracting the nutmeat is not easy, unless you're a squirrel - even they abandon the tough ones - and what they bury produces future black walnut trees. Definitely not to be compared with English walnut which is larger/softer/milder. Black walnut meat is more solid, comparatively bitter, and aromatic. When freshly cracked, there is a sweet initial overtone that fades soon. Great nutritionally, great for a pleasant surprise in baked treats. Add to cereal, oatmeal, waffles, pancakes: conveniently sized. Or just eat a handful - you might be pleasantly surprised.

Walnuts at Their Best
One of the best if not the best nut ingredient to use in baking. These walnuts are fresh and are excellently sized to ensure a good texture and crunch in your favorite baking dish. Walnut quality is excellent. Yes, yes . . . I know. The raw flavor is off-putting for some as it should be because of the associated walnut oil. As such, I put a handful in an air fryer, on 'toast' feature, and the come out crispier and of course tasty. I would not recommend eating walnuts raw unless you like a very intimidating and over-powering flavor. Instead, use them in baking and 'wow' your guests and yourself with the outcome.

Great price, Perfect Size, Very Fresh
This is my second time ordering. The reviews on here talking about a chemical smell or how bad they taste may not be familiar with black walnuts. They are strong tasting if you eat them raw, the smell is not a chemical smell, but the natural aroma of black walnuts. Black walnuts are best suited for baking not normal eating. The flavor shines through in baked goods. As you can see by the expiration date - its 2.5 years away and I store them in my freezer to retain freshness. The pieces are also normal size for black walnuts. Black walnuts are extremely expensive and impossible to find in my area. I paid $11.99/lb and these will go quick! Try them in fudge, banana bread, carrot/zucchini bread or a banana black walnut cake. You will not be disappointed!

Delicious.
My son sent me this for Christmas. The joke was, I could not find black walnut ice cream any more. Okay, vanilla ice cream covered in walnuts would have to do. I shared some with friends and enjoyed them myself so much that I had to order more. I store them in small glass jars in the freezer and hopefully I will make them last a little longer. I only wish I was up to baking, since they make excellent cookies.
