50 Yards off an 8 iron
These are quality practice balls and I give them top rating. How far do they travel? My full 8 iron shots go about 50 yards vs 150 for real golf. The "ratio" to real golf is non-linear. What I mean is long clubs don't go much farther with the practice ball. I might be able to hit this ball 20% farther with a rescue club or driver. I can hit a real ball 60% farther with a driver than my 8 iron."Almost Golf" makes great practice balls too. They are much harder and go 70 yards off an 8 iron (40% farther). The "Almost Golf" balls are harder and fly farther and have better feel and chip better. The problem is, they go so far that you really need a lot of room. My yard is huge but a decent par 5 with Almost Golf needs to be 180 yards. With Callaway, only 125 yards is needed. So, the Callaway balls work best for my yard. I have a full course that winds around the yard with holes ranging from 30 to 140 yards. We put sticks in the ground and you have to get the ball "in the leather" to be holed out. Great party game with friends and great for kids. No green fees, five hour rounds, etc. Just fun in the yard until it gets darkThe balls are very soft so you can hit the cars, your wife and kids can bean each other. No problem. We play "first one to hit the dog" wins.

balls go out of round very easy --- affects ball flight
I was hitting balls in my back yard off of my driving range mat (12 hdcp) and notice the first 2 times i hit each ball the flight was pretty true. THEN, the balls started flying progressively more left and/or right of the intended target. I thought it was my swing, so I went to the driving range the next day. The real balls at the driving range had a much more true flight (left and right) and I was back to hitting a very slight fade with my short irons. I went home an hit a few more of the callaway practice balls and noticed everything was bending abruptly to the right with a few abruptly hooking. Back to the range the next day and everything was fine. I went home and hit some real balls with the driver over the main road and into a church's open land --- ball flight was fine. I switched to the practice balls and the direction was horrible.I haven't used these balls since. If you want real feedback, use a real ball.
