Late delivery
Edit- the product is very well made and extremely durable would definitely recommend I ordered three pair at the same time to give to my friends. One came in as the expected date and the other two are now three days late after saying they have arrived. Tried to cancel the order and they would not cancel. These were time sensitive gifts. If you order make sure you give yourself plenty of of time. As the pliers are concerned they are great, I would highly recommend

15+ years old and still going strong!
It's 2025. And I'm using the same pair I bought from Amazon in 2009. It's still in great shape, no corrosion. They get used about 25 days a year. The only thing that needs replacement (now, after 15+ years) are the cutters. (Which is why this popped up when I searched.) I remember buying them when they were a crazy, major splurge, and people told me that for the price, I could just replace cheap pliers every year. This was much better, and definitely worth the money.

The best pliers for surf fishing
The Van Staal name is synonymous with the best of the surf casting world. The pliers are amazing, titanium, completely corrosion resistant and very lightweight to use. I think they are overpriced for what they are and what they do but if you are going to get the best than that’s usually the case. Either way these will last a lifetime. When can you say that about anything?

Disappointed at price level.
Product is made in Taiwan. Jaws are a little misaligned. And don’t completely close, line cutters impact first. Could cause issues gripping a wire leader. Leather sheath is not what I expected at this price point. Will replace sheath with a full grain leather that has a water drain in it. Lanyard is ok.. Overall not impressed at this price point.

The best pliers in the world.
I run a tuna charter and all of my crew uses these- I have bought a pair for all of my captains and deckhands as they are by FAR the best pliers on earth. I have had mine for 8 years (90 days a year of hardcore fishing) and have done ZERO maintenance on them and they work like new. They only downside is cost, but I was going through 2-3 pairs of $50 pliers a year, so in the long run, these are much cheaper.

Best fishing pliers I have ever owned
Best fishing pliers I have ever owned. Well worth the money. Abel beat to hell in 2 years and too difficult to change the cutters. Ross, good little pliers but just didn't stand up for the long universal use of fishing/backpacking. Simms, too big, too bulky, didn't cut nor grip for nothing. Van Staal, light, cuts like a dream through twigs, wire, hooks, 7x tippet, paracord, anything. Still standing up, even after being run over by a truck and landed on during a nasty spill down a rock wall. Love em.
