Bread and Jam for Frances

I read this book as a child, 36ish years ago, and it’s still a great book. It’s very relatable for a child, as they go through period of only wanting 1 thing to eat for lunch. The readability is great for a level 2 reader (kindergarten-1st grade). We like that it’s not super short like other beginner books. A very cute classic I’m glad to experience again with my daughter.

A book from my childhood that my first grade granddaughter also loves!

Favorite kids book for over 50 years!!

I’m an RDN and I love this book for my 3yo! We reference Francis being brave and trying new foods all the time because variety is the spice of life!

We used to read and reread this book to our children, who love Frances. (One of our grands is named Frances.) All of the Frances books encourage empathy in a child, and are very entertaining. We enjoy the poetic songs that Frances sings to herself. Our 4 year old grandson was inspired to eat a more varied diet after reading B & J for Frances. He now tries to take a bite of each item on his plate, making it all "come out even" as Albert does when he eats lunch with Frances at school.

I love this book, as a teacher and as a parent. I gave it to my nephew for Christmas and now all he wants to eat is Bread and Jam, so sometimes the best of plans often go astray.

Every child should read or have someone read Bread and Jam for Frances to them. It's great and all the books about Frances are good.

This is a very cute and relatable story for kids. It teaches an important lesson about trying new things in a gentle and fun way. The illustrations are charming and the story keeps children engaged. It is perfect for bedtime reading and also helpful for picky eaters. A classic that families will enjoy.
