Excellent Functionality for Motors, Lights, and other 15A Circuits.
I used this switch when installing a whole-house fan, and it works wonderfully to control the the motor. I plan on installing more of them for the outside/porch lights. I like the features and design better than anything I could find in local stores. Programmable Features: It is very easy to program, and the instructions are straightforward. The display is easy to read. It also gives you plenty of time to make your selections before automatically returning to the main display (I think 10 seconds for each button). The plastic door on the front doubles as the manual on/off override switch, which is nice. Construction: The switch seems well-built. The housing, face plate, screen, and buttons are sturdy and look like they'll withstand decades of use. Installation: It took me 3 minutes to install the switch. The switch doesn't have screw lugs but has the wires extending from the case to where you wire nut them directly to the box wires. The wiring is typical (black, white, red, green) and the schematic is clear. I read some reviews and questions complaining about not knowing what the different colored wires mean or what to do if the box doesn't have a neutral. Those reviews terrify the heck out of me considering those users have no business doing any kind of residential electrical work if they don't know basic universal wire insulation colors, don't know how to read a schematic, don't know what "hot" and "load" mean, and don't know how to fish a neutral into the box. Call an electrician before you burn down your house and kill someone. Overall, it's an excellent switch for the price.

Remember To Program The Days For The "OFF" Command Same As The "ON" Command
Needed this to replace a switch that controls outlets that feed the Christmas lights along the eaves. The timer fits in the same space as a Decora switch. It's white where my house switch color is light almond, but the switch is in the garage and not noticed, so no problem. There are four wires on the switch: black (power), white (neutral) green (ground) and red (the load/lights). I determined the hot side of the switch with a voltage sensor before throwing the breaker. That hot wire goes to the black wire on the timer. The other wire in the original switch is the load and goes to the timer's red wire. Ground goes to the ground. The white wire has to be connected to a neutral white wire. With houses wired using Romex, there are usually a bundle of white wires in the junction box. I undid the wirenut and added the timer's white wire, then replaced the wirenut. Programming the timer is slightly tricky. First thing is to set the internal clock and tell the timer what day it is. There is an internal battery backup so it retains time, day and program should there be a power failure. There's also a Reset button if you want to clear it out and start over. Now that time of day and day of week are set, you can program separate on and off times for up to 18 events. You can program for single days of the week or just Monday through Friday or just the weekends. All I wanted was one event: turn on at 5 PM and off at 11 PM every day. I read the directions carefully and for Event 1, set it for on at 5 PM. You then have to set which days it will happen. You press "PROG" over and over until you cycle through all the days of the week, then M-F, then Sa-Su, then, finally, all the days are displayed. Next I set the "Off" time for 11 PM. Great. Finished. I set the "Mode" to Auto and closed the little door. Right on time, the lights turn on at 5 PM. Success! Except in the morning, the lights are still on. Turns out you have to set the days of the week the "OFF" command will happen, just like you have to set the timer for the days it will turn "ON." Sneaky. Re-read the instructions and went back into Program until the OFF time of 11 PM was displayed. I punched the PROG button until all the days of the weeks were displayed. NOW it works. Turns on at 5, off at 11, every day. With programming flexibility comes many options and many ways to foul up. But it works fine now. Excellent price. There's also a master ON/OFF slider switch under the door so when it's not Christmas season and there's no need to energize the outlets, they will remain off. You can manually turn the lights on or off by simply pressing on the little door. It's designed to punch the "MAN" buttons beneath the door so you don't have to open the little door to turn the lights on or off manually.

Nice timer
It really deserves 4.5 stars. Installation was straight-forward, although, as noted, it does require all three electrical inputs: a Hot (black), Common (white), and Ground (green), plus the lead going to the device to be switched; and you have to know which is which. So if you don't have four wires in the electrical box, it won't work, or you will have to do some serious wire-pulling. That being said, so far (one month) it has worked as expected, toggling the outdoor garage lights. Programming was a little challenging and the documentation was a bit confusing -- ok, it was cold and dark in the garage. But if I only have to change the time every so often (as the seasons change) it should be fine. Curiously, when one pushes the programming-access door (beneath the display), it seems to change it from Auto to On to Off. It's been too cold to verify that part of the operation. Probably it's of benefit, but I've no need to use that so I just leave the door open a little bit. The switch I replaced is in a double-ganged plate (two switches side-by-side), and it fit ok, but obviously the included face-plate covering does not work. So both are exposed to spiders, if they dare. I will update this if something changes, but for now I would buy another ($17.50).

I regret this purchase and would not recommend these.
I purchased four of these but two developed issues one of which failed completely literally the day after the return window closed. They seem to work okay if you never turn the lights on and off manually because the two that developed issues did so after pressing the cover to turn them off manually. When I went to turn them back on I found them no longer working and with the LCD screens randomly displaying segments of characters. The first time this happened I was able to press the reset buttons and then reprogram them which initially worked but then it happened again to one of the two that initially malfunctioned and this time I was unable to get it workingagain despite pressing the reset button multiple times with the unit off and on and even with power removed. I thought perhaps one of the buttons was sticking but that does not appear to get the case. Hind sight is 20/20 and I should have just pulled all four and sent them all back when the first one malfunctioned the first time but considering the time and effort involved in removing them (they barely fit in a standard switch box) I took a chance hoping it was a fluke but there clearly seems to be a reliability issue with these despite so many good reviews but perhaps most people set them and leave them and never use the manual override feature as that appears to trigger the problem at least with my small sample size of four units).

It almost works.
Fairly simple to install, that part worked ok. Programming was actually quite easy or so I thought. My problems began because of the things they don't tell you in the instructions., but I figured that part out. Once I figured it out it started working as expected. It turned on and off at the correct times, great I thought. However, after working properly for several days, it just quit working. I reset it and started again. I worked for a number of days then just quit. I worked with it for 20 days, now I'm done with it and sending it back!

Highly recommend.
Great switch and very easy to install. No need to run a separate wire just need to know how to connect everything properly in the switch box! I used this on my DIY grow light since most timers don't fully shut off the LED and they stay dim when suppose to be off (both mechanical and digital type). This switch works perfectly thanks to the neutral line connection and was easy to use and program as long as you FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS! Highly recommend for led bulbs. Also has internal battery backup so your timer settings stay during a power outage.

One of the BEST, Will Buy MORE
Purchased several before and returned them all for some issues like cheap material, low quality build, Already broken. Purchased this one as last try and WOW, Build and material was very good, durable and solid, instruction manual was very clear and sufficient, came with all i would need in the box. Installed in 10 min, easy to program, programing done in 2-3 min and works like charm. Going to buy some more.
