RB2140 Original Wayfarer Gradient Square Sunglasses

I'm 16 and love the look of wayfarers. Wasn't sure about getting 50 or 54 mm and I decided to get the 54mm and they fit and look great. I'm 6` 3" , 195 lbs and wear a size 7.5 hat. If you are a pretty big man I would recommend the 54mm

Just got my RB2140 Ray Ban Wayfarers in the mail today, after having lost my Wayfarer II's in the airport. I hope whoever finds them appreciates them as much as I did - for me to keep a pair of sunglasses for six years without losing or breaking them was a record. My new Wayfarers have larger, green lenses, non-polarized, with black frames. The Wayfarer II's I had were not polarized, either, and it wasn't a problem. At some point I had bought a decent pair of Wayfarer knockoffs to keep in the car for the days I forgot my shades, and I will continue to use them in situations where I might lose my Ray Bans (again!). The Ray Bans, however, are going to take some getting used to. The retro lenses are bigger and look completely different than what I am used to seeing on my face. It's hard to convince myself that the knockoffs aren't the real Wayfarers and the new Wayfarers I have aren't the knockoffs. I had been wearing Wayfarer knockoffs for years until my wife bought me a pair of the genuine article for our anniversary, and the knockoffs always had the larger lenses, but after six years with the Wayfarer II's they look quite a bit different. So I guess what I am trying to say is if you absolutely want the retro look, these are for you. If you want a nice pair of utilitarian shades that are sturdy, hard to scratch, hard to damage, and a little more modern looking, you might want to take a look at the Wayfarer II's. Me? I am going to wear my new Wayfarers when driving or hanging out, as long as I am sure I won't lose them. I am sure I will get used to the retro look.

Very cheap and light. Lenses not very clear, hard to read road signs when wearing them. I was in a Ray Ban store today. Their glasses felt solid and heavier. Better made. Lenses were crystal clear, no issue seeing things far away. I'm wondering if what I purchased are knock offs?

This is the reason why it is better to get genuine brand names that have proven themselves times and times again. For now, I only wore them a few times and I love them... The glasses are the perfect size, the lenses are good and comfortable, kI will come back in a few months tell more...maybe. Happy new year 2014 and beyond people.

Glasses too small for my average size head. Oh yea, and they are cheaply made in China, not Italy. Actual value is about $20 for a cheap pair of sunglasses!

Someone else on these review said the 54mm would "only fit someone with an ogre-sized head." Well, I don't *think* I have an ogre sized head, but it is a L/XL on fitted hats, and these shades fit perfectly. Got them through Amazon, and were a genuine pair. Very happy. If you ever have any questions about whether you're getting knock offs or not, you can google "ray ban genuine test" and they'll give you a ton of ways to tell, but the big ones are seeing if "ray ban" is laser inscribed on one of the lens (very lightly -- I couldn't see it the first time I looked for it), and checking that the eyeglass case has "Luxxotica" printed on it (and that it comes with a eyeglass cleaning cloth). Also, I don't have an ogre-sized head...right?

I bought a pair of Ray-Ban RB2140 902/57. They were listed as "Polarized" also was indicated with the "/57". However, once I received them I quickly realized that they were NOT polarized lenses. First off, they didn't have the "P" after the Ray-Ban inscription on the front of the right lens. Also they failed every test to check for light polarization (i.e. viewing a LCD screen and rotating the sunglasses should make the screen darken or disappear). This may have been an honest mistake of someone putting non-polarized sunglasses in a box labeled polarized. Though once I started investigating the lenses themselves I realized that the lenses weren't even authentic Ray-Ban lenses. However, the frames were most definitely real. So someone at some stage of the process inserted (or replaced the real lenses) FAKE lenses into a pair of REAL frames! And if you know anything about high-quality sunglasses (i.e. Ray-Bans) what you are really paying for are the lenses, NOT the frames. I've contacted the seller and Amazon, but neither seems too concerned. So just keep this in mind when you receive your sunglasses. The frames may pass all of your quality control tests, but be sure you aren't being duped on the lenses!
