Great light from this. Small size - fits in the palm of hand. 3 light settings : strong, medium and flashing. Can also adjust the light size/zoom. Very impressed with quality. Good value for money too.

Well, what do you expect for less than four quid a torch? I just wanted a small convenient torch for dog walking, which is often in the dark at this time of year. I didn't want an expensive one as I tend to lose them, and/or leave the battery in during the summer which often messes them up. So at the price a few months use seemed a good deal. Opening the box I was pleasantly surprised. Good solid little torches, well made, metal construction, look like they'll take a drop or two. bonus for me they only take one AA battery. The light is brighter than I would expect, although I'm not a lumens expert. But they provide more than enough light for my purposes. I don't use the beam setting much, usually the flood option. Just the right size for slipping in you pocket. One resides in my dog walking coat and you don't even notice it's there. I was a bit surprised to note on a couple of reviews the comments about having to cycle through the options to turn the torch on and off. If you press the button firmly each time it just turns on and off normally. If you want the other stuff, and I don't, you just have to press the button less firmly to cycle through them. Great little torches. Update June 2025. Quick update. Recently moved house and these torches are still going strong. Given them a lot of use lately creeping round the loft and dark cupboards finding stuff. Sadly our whippet, Winnie died a few months ago so I don't have the need for a dog walking torch. But amazingly, for the money these torches still doing what they should with no bother. Absolutely fantastic buy. Don't hesitate. You can't go wrong.

Great little torches - robust and very bright

Living in a rural area that used to suffer from frequent short power cuts, I have had quite a few different types of torches over the years. These particular torches are excellent. They are straight forward, easy to use and carry. They have all the features you actually need in a torch. They use a single AA battery, I use a rechargeable one which the torch accepts without any problem. Some torches don’t because a rechargeable battery puts out a very slightly lower voltage than the alkaline types. The battery life using either type is excellent! Many torches cannot be stood on their end, because of the design of the end cap, but this one can. This is important because in a power cut, you can stand the torch on a table, or on the mantle piece, shine it on the ceiling and it will illuminate the room! The torch has its on/off switch in the end cap which makes it very easy to use - much better than a button on the side which can often be a pain to find in the dark. (Which is when you need a torch!) It also doesn’t roll if you lay it down on a surface that isn’t level. As far as brightness goes, it is powerful for its size and plenty good enough for use in the house as well as a dog walk. It is small and light, easy to carry in a pocket, or a small bag, pouch or whatever - or for keeping in the car’s glovebox. It is very well made and very tough. There is a clip on the side for attaching to your clothing or whatever that is unobtrusive, effective, and there if you need it. The “modes” are high and low power, a flashing setting, and it has a zoom feature. I have a couple of very powerful torches - but in all honesty, these small torches, in practice, do what you really need out of a torch. Lastly, it is very cheap to buy! A bargain!

They seem good at first and are quite rugged and durable looking. The ability to focus the beam is handy too. But after comparing them with some similar cheap Rolson torches these ones are definitely less bright. They take one AA battery which seems good at first until you realise how quickly they run out. I used them for about a week when reading to the kids at bedtime, maybe 15 minutes each night when they suddenly stopped working and needed the battery replacing. The worst thing is they don't give you any indication the batteries are nearly gone, so the light doesn't get less bright or anything - they just stop working and won't turn on at all. I thought it was faulty at first but replaced them several times with a brand new battery each time and they worked great again until the battery goes again and they just won't come on at all. I'd go with the Rolson ones in future or another brand that uses more batteries for better reliability. A single AA just doesn't give you enough juice unless it's purely for emergencies where you'll be using it for a few minutes very occasionally.
