Really wanted to give this item a 4 star review!
Gosh this is an expensive item for what it does. It doesn't feel like its worth anywhere near £115. But yes it works, it works reliably and is very helpful to have. I deliberated on this purchase for many months. If there was another competition out there I would of not given it 5 stars. But the fact is it works all the time every-time. Quality - the back cover feels very cheap and the cable to touch the negative end also feels like its about to fall apart any minute. Practicality - Its big - not exactly the smallest item on the desk when laid out in use. Oh and what really annoys me most about this item is the fact that there is no switch off button. GOSH! This means that every time I have used this measuring device I have to take out the batteries (did I mention the battery case feels like its about to break any second) and put it away as there is no way to ascertain that the batteries will not just deplete itself. A simple switch off button would of done the whole world a favour ZTS!!!!

IMHO, a Brilliant bit of kit!
After a lot of research, I opted for the MBT-1 and to date, I'm impressed! I have carried out my own 4 second Resistance, 'Load Tests' on numerous battery types and I can confirm that the MBT-1 is accurate in most, if not all cases. No 'On-Off' switch to worry about (which some may not like), but for me, it's one less thing to worry about..... Is it on? or is it off? I still have the original batteries in it after 10 months and they are all still between 60% and 80%. Simple and logical to use and the result of the 'Pulse Test' is displayed within a few seconds. The Tester is well made and the rubber grip surround ensures that the Tester is comfortable to hold in one hand and it should stand a light knock or two. The 'Test Lead' is not detachable and may look a tad untidy when it is not clipped to the body for storage but it is fit for purpose and again, one less thing to worry about..... Is it plugged in properly? Is the connection sound? I store and use the Tester in the (slightly modified) clear plastic packaging that it came in. I just pop open the box and away we go. Let's be honest...... This is an Expensive Battery Tester and you 'may' think it is overkill for most households, but It is surprising how many batteries and battery types we have on the go at any one time and unlike most Battery Testers out there, this Tester tests Multiple types of 'commonly used' batteries, including Alkaline, Lithium, Lithium-Ion and NiMH, ranging from 1.5v to 12v, plus Alkaline 9v (MN1604/PP3) and multiple Coin Batteries. More importantly, the MBT-1 offers a unique feature, a 'Pulse Test' which basically Tests the battery during a short resistance load and is therefore, far more accurate and the result is more dependable than on cheaper testers. Within reason, what this Tester displays, is what it is, although, you should always carry out at least two tests, to ensure continuity and connectivity. I find myself using this Tester weekly, it is one of my favourite bits of kit and let's just say, if I dropped it and it broke, I would not hesitate in buying another!......Nuff said? Highly Recommended!
