Gryphon Makes A Great Band Saw BUT The Guides Need Replacement Often
I bought a used Gryphon band saw for stained glass. Since its purchase, I've replaced the guides twice, both upper and lower wheels, and recently the blade. I still really like this band saw. I attribute the replacements to wear and tear by the previous owner. After replacing the blade, I realized that the blade I'd been using was quite worn because, although it worked slowly, was substantially thinner than the new blade. The new blade is much faster and a bit steadier however it has been operating with a worn lower guide. I think the replacement of the lower guide will steady the blade and at that point I will have replaced all of the user parts. Hopefully, the 4 plastic guides will now extend the life of the band saw. As I stated previously, I really like the saw and the only negative aspect is that it does drop water on the object being cut, in my case stained glass. This makes it tough to follow the pattern lines because the dropping water sometimes wears out my pattern line. I've tried both Sharpie pens, both the black ink and the silver "permanent paint".

Not a good material for the guide blocks cheap plastic
Having to replace these far to often at 15.00$ a pop + 120.00 for the blades makes this C-40 saw expensive to operate

Don’t last ,
Probably the saw, but they don’t seem to last but for a few hours. Then again. How long should they last?
