Gotta love Pyrex
Sturdy, long lasting, easy to care for. All the things that make Pyrex great. This set replaced the ones I received at my bridal shower 43 years ago. I finally broke one too many and needed a new set. These are nice, even if they aren't patterned anymore. The different sizes mean you always have the right bowl for the job. Unlike cheap bowls, these are deep and heavy. They're almost impossible to chip in regular use. While I might miss the old school patterned bowls, these clear bowls are a lot more functional. They can go right to the table and look good with my dishes. They're easy to clean. Just pop them in the dishwasher. The lids are nice, but I probably won't use them much. I don't really need to store food in anything that large!

AWESOME MIXING SET!!!! --- clear, doesn't alter food flavors, strong, durable, great lid design, versatile sizes & super compact
These are my main mixing bowls which I use for all sorts of various applications. The sizes, strong glass, compact stacking, and good lids have impressed me and using these to cook with has been a pleasure. They are some of the nicest mixing bowls I have used, but also one of the most affordable (I own the 8-piece set.)The tempered glass that these Pyrex Essentials are made from perform very well for my needs. As a glass, it does not alter flavors like other materials can. As a tempered soda lime silica glass, it's durable and capable of withstanding high-heat cooking/baking/cleaning/shock...and it is suitable for usage in the dishwasher to make cleanup easier. With a good lid design, these are great for liquids (ex: brining or soaking beans) and reduce mess. Being compact, I find these are easy to store. I also really like how these are clear...and I find I do use this to my benefit (ex: looking for clumps of unblended flour that may be stock to the bottom or side wall.) The sizes themselves are also a real plus. Ranging from the small 1 quart to giant 4 quart, this wide range in sizes means that these can tackle jobs of all different sizes. Finally, I like how the bowls used a flared lip at the top. While the purpose of this is so these bowls can use a lid, I find this reduces spills and gives you a lot better leverage when holding the bowl and stirring something thick (such as a batter.)The only possible downside is that some people may not like the heft of these...being these use thick tempered glass, they have quite a lot of weight to them. I personally really like this as I find it helps keep the bowl more stable, but some people may find the weight is not what they prefer.Price-wise, I am also really satisfied with the purchase. Nice mixing bowls are not cheap to begin with, let alone nice mixing bowls that are clear and have an excellent lid. So for under $8 per bowl & lid, I think this is an excellent value.Overall these are just great mixing bowls and I don't think you can go wrong here....===SIDE NOTE -- BOROSILICATE GLASS and the MODERN PYREX GLASS===It may be worth noting that modern home-use Pyrex containers are NOT currently made from borosilicate glass. Up until around 2000, it was borosilicate, but it is now a tempered soda lime silica glass made by a different company. That can raise interests in regards to the differences between the older borosilicate and the current soda lime silica glass. More-or-less, borosilicate glass is more heat-resistant and can better handle drastic temperature fluctuations, where as soda lime silica glass tends to be slightly more resistant to damage from shock. Borosilicate is also more expensive to produce, and Pyrex's use of soda lime glass is arguably a major reason they can offer a high-quality mixing bowl set (with lids) for not much more than an inexpensive economy set (without lids.)

Awesome glass bowls
These bowls are great. I love the 4 different sizes and having the lids are such an asset. They fit perfectly inside each other so they save on space.

Smart buy!
So happy that I made the decision to wait for it to come in. It was on some type of back order that took about a month to come in. But I waited patiently. I had went into Target and saw a different one slightly cheaper but it didn’t claim to be able to be heated (oven safe) nor have the measurements on the lid. The brand is also a generational family favorite! Stackable, sturdy and easy to clean. Enjoy using to marinate meats, baking ingredients and food storage.

Very useful sizes and sturdy bowls
You can never have too many mixing bowls, right? These four clear bowls are useful sizes and the thick lip keeps the lids locked on well. It's not completely spillproofa, but you have to work hard to tip these bowls over anyway.I've had a set of these before, and the reason I can't give them five stars is because the lids always seem to crack after a year or two. I've come to expect it, and this time I ordered silicone lids made by a third party company that are especially for Pyrex bowls (and far better than the lids that come with the bowls.). An added expense, but worth it since I know the bowls will long outlast the original lids. Even so, this set is a good value in my opinion.

Perfect, heavy, high-quality
These bowls are perfect, exactly what I was looking for! I LOVE them and use them for everything (cookie dough, salsa, popcorn, leftovers, serving bowls). Other reviews mentioned they were too shallow, but I feel like they are the perfect size!Pros+ Perfect sizes. The largest is big enough for a batch of cookies or a casserole. The smallest is the size of a large cereal bowl, perfect for small side dishes.+ Lids are durable and high quality. Microwave and dishwasher safe and fit securely on bowls turning these lovely serving bowls into storage tupperware.+ Solid weight. The glass feels high quality and sturdy, exactly how I imagine Pyrex to feel.+ Bowl edges. The lips on the side of the bowl make them super easy to pick up (glass bowls are usually slippery), even when the bowl itself contains hot food.+ Nesting. Both the bowls and lids nest and stack together so it saves a lot of spaceCons- Lid colors. I'd prefer if the lids were all one color (red!), but the different colors make it easy to spot the appropriate lid for your bowl.- Solid weight. Although the weight of glass products is always a plus for me, it is a little difficult for me as a small woman to lift all four bowls down from a cabinet when they're nested together.

Perfect mixing bowls
Should have bought these sooner. They are the perfect size for my needs, and have already used them a lot. And they're Pyrex, made well, very sturdy and the lids fit tight.
