MDF Babinski Buck Reflex Hammer, Color Abyss

I ordered this and it came in a box that pictured a totally different item (similar MDF hammer with a thick black handle) and it didn't include the pin that screws into the top. There wasn't even a hole there for the pin to screw into. Everything else was as promised, and I'm sure it would make a good hammer if you don't care about that one part. But if I'm paying the money to get a hammer, I might as well get all the capabilities out of it instead of having to carry an additional instrument with me. Plus, it's just wrong for the item to be described and pictured one way and actually appear another way.I ended up returning this and getting the more expensive MDF hammer with the thick black handle, but that had the same problem with the missing pin, so I ended up returning that too. Better off ordering from a different company.

This multi-functional reflex hammer is one of the best for any healthcare professional or healthcare student. It has a heavy metal handle that makes it easy to control, aim with precision, and requiring very little force when using it on the patients. The brush is soft and the Babinski Buck is just right, not too sharp and not too dull. I would recommend not only this MDF reflex hammer but any MDF product. These products are built to last and very well made. Also the hammer is LATEX-FREE for patients and health professionals who are allergic to latex!! The manufacturer has great customer satisfaction. ALSO to note, it has LIFE-TIME WARRANTY!!! Only great manufacturers stand by their product and MDF is one of them. Forget about other manufacturers, I bought a reflex hammer from Prestige before this one and it fell apart within a month. I have used this and other MDF products for years and nothing has gone wrong. Not only is this product great but so is the price. Can't beat the price and quality that this MDF reflex hammer has to offer.

Good hammer for medical students and residents. It has a sharp bottom and a brush for testing your sensations. Its compact enough to sit in your lab coat without taking up much space. Also, made of superior quality. Worth the extra few bucks compared to your generic knee hammer.

For the price point, this hammer deserves 4 stars. It's a good size, and very effective.Things that could be improved:The head could use some extra weight. It's got a good length, but isn't quite heavy enough to get a decent response.Intead of a brush, the hammer should have a needle. I can gauge cutaneous light touch sensation with a finger or a cotton swab. Sharp sensation is much more useful, and a needle would help immensely.Overall, for $12, this is a great hammer. Hope this helps!

In short....The reviews that point out the head not to be heavy enough are accurate. Small size as well. Both make tendon reflex exam harder than it should be. Perhaps suitable for med school use only, and people who are not demanding during usage. Athough cheap, I would not recommend it to neurologists. Check for more expensive equiment from the same manufacturer (MDF Tromner?)Does not have any kind of pin inside the head (knob on top just isn't there as illustrated).

Lightweight hammer, works well!

I ordered it for medical school, but found out the top pin-prick neuro tool can't be used for patients as any "pin prick" testing tool should be thrown away after each patient. Works fine as a hammer and light touch tool though.

Es mas liviano de lo que esperaba, pero esta bien. Lo bueno es que si lo llevas encima no pesa tanto, pero hay que hacer mas fuerza en el golpe

Correcto envío. Buen acabado. Quizás echo en falta lo que otros martillos de reflejos tienen en la parte superior, la aguja camuflada en el interior enroscada, para comprobación de sensibilidad dolorosa.

Lo compré para una chica estudiante de veterinaria y la ha venido muy bien. El producto bueno y el servicio impecable.

Los materiales y el precio son razonables, y su uso en exploraciones médicas neurológicas es el uso más común.
