It depends on what you are calling heavy, how they are supported on the bottom, and the thinset you use. It will be as strong as the cement or hardi backerboard you use. When bonding the Kerdi don't use too thin a coat underneath it or on top and use large format thinset between the kerdi and the tiles. It has the best bonding strength. With heavy tiles don't run too many vertical rows at a time as they can buckle, and use spacers. Then it should be fine.

It doesn't use any sort of glue. You install it with thinset mortar. Schluter recommends their proprietary mortar but you can use any good-quality unmodified thinset.
