Resolution is good, quality is good
Resolution is good, quality is good, camera software is quite user friendly. Also, if you are interested, it is quite easy to convert it to a polarized microscope. I bought two linear polarizers separately (43 mm and 30 mm dia), place the 43 mm one on top of the bottom LED lamp. For the second 30 mm one, remove the top half of the microscope body, and place the polarizer inside the microscope just above the base which holds the objective magnifiers. Then re-attach the top half of the microscope back the the microscope. There is enough room to hold the polarizer without interfering the microscope body. It only takes one minute. Again, the microscope works well like a high end polarized microscope.

Mostly good, but a mixed bag if you need repairs...
First I have to say my Son, a freshman in College taking Biology, LOVES this microscope! That said, a few short months after we bought it the LED light failed. No big deal, stuff happens. The guy at AmScope was GREAT (Aaron) and they got it turned around very quickly. You're probably thinking about now, "well, why is this NOT a 5-star revue"?! Fair question. It WOULD have been if not for the fact it was ME who had to assume the shipping cost there, and the shipping cost BACK! It wasn't our fault the cheap Chinese power supply failed within 4 months! We did NOTHING wrong to cause this, and have NO responsibility for its shortcomings. I think a company should think about that before they tout a warranty. They should have covered the warranty repair shipping BOTH ways, but at a minimum one way.Just know that as you're thinking about buying one from some distance away. If this happened a few times to yours you could find yourself out another 50 bucks (or WAY more if you needed to ship the entire unit in) in "free warranty" repairs.

Simply amazing
I haven't had a microscope since I was 8-9 years old. When I overlooked a vault technician with a field scope for looking at intricate, small gear, I starting looking at scopes. Amscope has a huge collection of various scopes for every need. I bought a binocular stereo, and then this compound one. Both have provided me hours of entertainment. The mechanical stage is a must, as well as a 3mp or higher camera. The pics are amazing! Prices are great, as the LED is cheaper than the halogen. But suits me just fine. Both scopes came with plenty of accessories, lens, parts, covers. I wish they would do a better job of documentation and manuals, but their support provided links to good online manuals. The software shipped with the cameras is very good, and has tons of photo manipulation features. Cameras even take video and time lapse captures.Physically, the equipment seems sturdy and solid, no crappy plastic or cheap parts that would appear to break easily.I am really having a blast using a laptop and the camera.

it seemed like the lower MP camera had equal or even better ...
My wife and I are professional scientists. My father in law is also a professional scientist. This microscope leaves much to be desired. But looking at the price we paid for it, it was kind of expected.Calling this a professional microscope is a little far fetched. Once you unwrap all this stuff, you can see that all the stuff doesn't really scream professional. But don't get me wrong, it also doesn't scream out as being too cheap either. Objectives are alright, we've had a few that were not so clean. The stage was a tad bit small, but also alright. Overall the product was just average. The included camera too, we took pictures that were just OK. It's not really worth it to buy any of the microscopes with the higher megapixels. We bought a few of the microscopes, and compared the higher MP camera with the lower MP camera, and to us, it seemed like the lower MP camera had equal or even better quality then that of the higher.Speaking of customer service by amscope, it also left much to be desired. We had a problem with one of the microscopes that we purchased, but when we emailed it for a return, they suggested us to do a few things first. After we did, we emailed them back and the guy went on vacation! We tried to email other people but they didn't respond back. Once the guy came back on vacation and emailed us back, he told us that it was too late do a return so we were stuck with a defective product. *shrug*....

Awesome microscope!
My new microscope works great! A picture speaks a thousand words; this is a picture of fruit fly chromosomes from a slide I made in high school (1973)! Please view the picture in the customer submitted pictures section.

Excellent customer service
The first microscope sent had a faulty light. Customer service was very prompt and answered the phone immediately. The replacement was shipped before I had even finished repacking the faulty scope, and shipping was covered 100%. The replacement arrived and works flawlessly. I am impressed with the customer service. The microscope required some minor assembly to attach the MP3 camera and tune the focus. The software installed and is very intuitive to use, so was taking video immediately after tuning the focus. The software is feature rich, with controls to adjust camera settings (frame rates, exposure, histograms...) and modify images with layers for including notation, scale bars, stitching.I am very satisfied with the performance of the product and the service provided!
