Shark Premium SC630 Portable Steam Pocket

Well, I was really optimistic about this steamer. "I can clean and sanitize the kitchen counters! The fridge, the baseboards! Oh, hallelujah, I can steam-clean the toilet and the cat box!" In one of the reviews I read, someone warned "Whoa! Watch out for flying bits of crap when you clean something really dirty!" Awesome, I can BLAST things clean! No. I tried the hose, the wedge tool, and finally just the steam nozzle itself. It didn't seem to have ANY effect until I was actually TOUCHING the surfaces with the nozzle. Then, you could sorta see the steam pressing weakly against the grime. So I'm like, "OK, it'll loosen the dirt and then I'll wipe it off, no prob." Nah. I put my hand in front of the nozzle, risking a scalding injury, to evaluate the power of the spray. Well, it was kinda warm, kinda blowy, not really all that wet. Yeah. Dirt is terrified. (Kitties were pretty intimidated, however.) Thank you, Amazon, for making returns so easy!

After reading all the reviews on this product, I bought it. It seemed to me that the good outweighed the bad. My favorite review was the helpful hint on how to get peak performance from the Shark with minimal effort. The belt trick won me over. Just slide a regular belt through the handle, buckle it, and throw the belt over your shoulder. This tip worked like a charm, just like the enthusiastic reviewer said. The button stayed continuously depressed and it allowed me to keep both hands free to utilize the attachments to their potential. The steam was phenomenal. I washed windows, cleaned toilets, my stove, window sills, blew off silk flower arrangements, the list goes on and on. I also followed another reviewer's tip on how to clean the various 'pockets'. Just slide them off, rinse in the sink and either let it dry or put it back on the attachment and get back to work! I am very pleased with my product. Everything I cleaned looks brand new and wow, does it ever bring out the sparkle! I'll be purchasing another one for my mom's birthday present. I know it will make her cleaning tasks a breeze just as it did for me. I love it!

The reviews were mixed, but I didn't know if the nay-sayers were just expecting a miracle worker for under $100 dollars or if it really didn't do what it says. Well, it's not half of what the videos show. Forget the "squeegee" wedge for it. There's no such thing as streak free cleaning with this. It's useless for mirrors, stainless steel, and anything like that you want to get rid of streaks. The direct spray nozzle does remove some tougher grime but only if "directly" on the grime, so I guess they named it correctly. It looses the grime, and you wipe it. It did loosen the soap film on the shower door, but again, I wiped it clean to get it streak free. The good....my kids had a blast with the toothpaste in the bathroom. I tried various cleaners and couldn't get it off without risking damage to my paint on the walls. This led me to purchase this item, and it did it's job on that. No more toothpaste on the walls. It also did a pretty good job on a wooden slat door I have getting the dust in the hard to reach places. I can't see how anyone can burn themselves with it, as the steam really isn't that hot unless you're RIGHT up on the nozzle. Yes, it does clean, and I hope at least it accomplishes the sanitizing it claims. However, you work your butt off still to get things clean. The first couple times you use it kind of hurt your hands, and you have to switch off to be able to complete your tasks. I'd happily pay $30 for this product. It's not worth much more than that. Is it total junk? No. Is it all it says? No. Just not worth the cost. I'll keep it for what it does, and eat the cost as a bad consumer decision. Amazon is fantastic with returns, but I'm not really too concerned. Like I said, I'd be more satisfied if it cost about $30.

I've only used this once, but so far I really think I like it. It's a little hard to get the hang of it at first, with the cord and the different attachments. I cleaned both my bathrooms, and while this was a bit awkward at first, it really did clean pretty good. My shower is horrible about soap scum, and even the best cleaners have a hard time getting all of it off, but this did a pretty good job. Is it completely soap scum free? No, but it got the majority off and perhaps I'll clean the shower more often now..who knows. At any rate I absolutely loved it on the oven. My oven is self cleaning, but that really doesn't work well and I hate to use oven cleaner. I used this with the concentrated steam attachment and then a wet rag to wipe up the dirt that was loosened and it was really awesome. My oven hasn't been this clean since we bought it. Also did a beautiful job on the sliding glass door, windows, counter-tops, oven door and front of dishwasher. Made them all quite shinny!

I purchased this over a year ago, used it once, it worked great. I put it away to store until the next use. I intended to only use it once in a while, and when I got it out over a year later customer service told me the only thing I could do was purchase a new product from them at a discount. I would not buy this if you want a dependable steamer for the long run. It might work fine when you get it, but don't plan on it lasting.

I have been using this item and it works great on cabinets, walls, anything in the kitchen, bathroom but when you are doong the walls its hard to hold the canister and work the wand. I had to make a shoulder strap to help with holding the canister and made a something to hold the button when I am using it so I don't have to keep on pressing on the button. But it does work. It has remove smoke and grease stains off my cabinets and walls.
