Did a great deal of research for outdoor Bluetooth speakers
I am very impressed. Did a great deal of research for outdoor Bluetooth speakers, and these rated highly so I gave them a try. Have had them over a month, and they were easy to set up and link with my Samsung Galaxy S5. Well packaged, with nothing missing and items secure in the styrofoam backing. In terms of appearance, they do indeed look like part of the landscape, as we have them in a mulch bed surrounded by grasses and annuals. They have a fair amount of weight to them too. You do need an outlet to power the "mother" speaker, and I would recommend just buying an outdoor power stake; that way you can charge your phone too if you'll be playing music for a while. The satellite/slave speaker is linked to the mother speaker via a speaker wire, easy enough to hide in mulch or with a small hand shovel. Some folks wrote about the power adapter not looking outdoor worthy, and this was something I was a bit worried about... though I figured if I had reservations, I could always wrap/cover it in plastic. However, the adapter says "for outdoor use" and I don't have any reservations about it being out in the elements. I also like the fact there is no "blue light" or other indicator the speakers are on, which was something that I noticed (and did not want) on other outdoor speakers I researched. The power switch is on the underside of the mother speaker, and I typically turn mine off when not in use... though I suspect you could leave them on if you wanted to. Lastly, while I am not a stereophile, I think these sound great. They are truly stereo, not mono piped to two speakers. I have them placed~ 15-20' apart, and sat in between playing different types of music and they sound fantastic, especially with the middle and higher notes. Crisp and full is how I would describe it. They obviously won't have a booming base (they are rather small), but they are also not without bass either... and you could easily turn them up to be heard from 50, 100 feet away if so desired. I will add that you control the volume via your phone/wireless device, as there is no volume control on these. But otherwise, I am very impressed, and would highly recommend these to others seeking a good looking, well performing, discrete, Bluetooth speaker set for outside.

Well Built, Great Sounding Speakers (Updated)
(Updated 6/3/15) - After my initial purchase and over a year of happy listening, I was bummed to turn on my speakers this spring and, although I was able to sync Bluetooth, got no audio from any device (Android or IOS). I contacted AV-Express to see if they knew of any diagnostic steps I could take. On a *SUNDAY* they responded and said they would reach out to the vendor. The following week, the vendor responded with "try unplugging the speakers for 30 minutes". AV-Express and I shrugged our collective shoulders at the "solution" and the AV-Express rep said that I should try it, but they would swap out the speakers for a returned set at no charge (happy customers, goodwill, etc.). This is way, way after any warranty period. The odd thing was, I unplugged them, took a trip for a two days, came back, plugged them back in and they worked. Besides the "leave them unplugged for a while and they may work again thing", the takeaway is the excellent support by the vendor, AV Express. The speakers are still "four stars" but I've upgraded the review to five because this vendor is so damned cool. You just don't find this sort of integrity that often. (Original 4 star speaker review follows) I have a small backyard (60' x 30') and the speakers do a nice job of providing sound to the whole area. Fidelity is quite nice, and sound does not sound overdriven at the highest volume level. The low-end is respectable, and the mid's and high's are very good. Nothing sounds tinny or overdriven. For outdoor loudspeakers, I don't think the audio gets much better without spending stupid amounts of money. . The Bluetooth works as expected. The range for my phone is about 30 feet. I wish there was a way to reset the pairing code but it's not a big deal. I have the speakers paired with a Galaxy S3 running Cyanogenmod and am using PowerAmp as my music app. The cable connecting the speakers is 20', very good gauge and is well shielded. The speakers connectors are top notch and do a great job shielding the wire terminators from the elements. The recommended distance between the speakers is 15' - 20' and I have them right at 20'. A little bit longer cable (just a few more feet) would have given me a bit more flexibility in running the cable, keeping it out of sight, etc. Again, though, not a big deal. The only reason these speakers do not get five stars is the power supply. While everything else about the speakers seems very well designed and implemented, the power supply almost feels like a last minute addition ("oh heck, we have to power these things?") It is a "brick" style power supply that feels like it would come with an off-brand printer or notebook. It does not strike me as particularly outdoor-ready; the power cable is not grounded and indoor gauge. I wish they would have placed the transformer in the speaker housing, and had a longer, outdoor quality, power cable. I'm probably going to throw together some kind of housing for the power supply so it survives the rain. (Update - power supply has survived 30 deg - 115 deg fahrenheit, patio has not gone up in flames, so I guess we're good) Over all though, I am happy with the purchase, and happily recommend these speakers.

1 year and done.....UPDATED REVIEW...great customer service!
Great speakers, for the first year. Easy set up and it's nice to just leave them out in the elements, which was the main selling point for me (that and they blended in with the atmosphere). I bought these in June 2015 and have been using them outside. They would cut in and out some via Bluetooth but not to the point it bothered me enough to do anything about it. I went down today to flip the switch on the main speaker to turn them on and....nothing. I tried plugging them in to two different outlets inside and ...nothing. They are dead, after 1 year of use. If you don't mind shelling out $230 for one year of use, by all means, these are the speakers for you. I love how these look and work but I would be careful buying a set of them for long term use. I guess I'll look for another kind somewhere else. **UPDATE 7/16/16 The day I wrote this review, I sent an email to the company and within ONE DAY (on a weekend no less) Brian emailed me back, asked me one question, said he would send out a new power cord the next business day and if that didn't fix the problem, he would replace my speakers free of charge. GREAT customer service like this is almost unheard of in this day and age so I wanted to definitely let anyone reading this review know that this company stands by their products and their customers. Things break, I get it, but when a company is accountable, that makes all the difference in the world to me. I'm moving this up to 3 stars and will update this again if anything more happens. I'm impressed with the response time and incredible customer service of this company and a big thank you to Brian as well! UPDATE 7/20/16: Brian Fedex'ed me a new powercord on Monday, got it today, tried it out and the speakers work fine. AWESOME customer service and just a faulty power converter. Moving this back up to four stars! Thanks again!

Works great until they don’t
Verified Purchase Great speakers, for the first year. Easy set up and it's nice to just leave them out in the elements, which was the main selling point for me (that and they blended in with the atmosphere). I bought these in February 2018 and have been using them outside. They worked great the. I went down today to flip the switch on the main speaker to turn them on and....nothing. I tried plugging them in to two different outlets inside and ...nothing. They are dead, after only 6 months of use. If you don't mind shelling out $230 for one year of use, by all means, these are the speakers for you. I love how these look and work but I would be careful buying a set of them for long term use. I guess I'll look for another kind somewhere else. Unfortunately I’ve recommended them to friends and family and I hope theirs do not fail like mine.

A solution to my years-long pool audio "first world" problem
For years I've struggled with trying to find the best way to get audio out to my in-ground pool. I did not want to drill holes through my exterior walls for speaker wire, mount speakers to my house, or bury 100 ft of speaker cable underground. Purchasing these speakers has allowed me to get audio out to my pool area without doing any of that. If you can plug a cord into an outlet then you can 'install' these speakers and have music in your yard as quickly as you can connect the bluetooth on your phone. Pros: -I'm no audiophile, but they sound just fine in a challenging outdoor setting -They look great. (I have the sandstone colored ones) They really do blend in well with my landscaping. -The setup could hardly be easier. -The included speaker wire and the power cord is just long enough for my application. -The bluetooth range is just long enough for my application. Cons -The included cables could be a little bit longer. But this is fixable with an outdoor rated extension cord and/or some outdoor rated speaker wire. So even if you find the included wiring to be too short for your application, this is fixable. Still, for most people the included wires are probably long enough. -The bluetooth range could be a little better. The practical range seems to be about 30-35 feet. Anything beyond about 30 feet and the signal will occasionally cut out. Anything beyond 40 feet is very dicey. -I think these are priced a little high. But the price is not unreasonable. In all, I'm happy to give this 5 stars. The cons are all nit-picks really, and these speakers seem to be the best available that do what they do. I cannot comment on the customer service or the durability as I've only owned these for a month, though the glowing reviews given by others definitely helped me to make the purchase with ease. With these speakers, I am finally able to stream music, controlled by my phone, out to my pool and yard. With the Plex server/app and a Sirius-XM subscription and app, this means unlimited music at the pool!

then annoying short bursts of static
Worked well for the summer last year. They were set up outside at my pool underneath a canopy. They never got wet. Sound was just OK...Bluetooth worked well. Stored inside over the winter months. When I set these speakers up this spring, the speakers constantly cut in and out. The music would play, then annoying short bursts of static, then no sound. I would then jiggle the terminal (where the speaker wire plugged into the speaker) and then there would be sound but only for a second, then no sound....sound and then no sound...sound and then no sound...sound and then no sound..You get my point. It is hard to fix because the connections are all internal. Being past the 1 year warranty, I decided to splice the wires and try and fix it myself but did not succeed. It is a shame because spending over 200 for speakers should be worth it. They should have lasted more than 5 months. I bought outdoor KICKER speakers and wired them to my receiver and they sound 100 times better! I do miss the bluetooth though...Maybe someone on EBAY can fix them, because they are just collecting dust in my garage.

Sounds good, but doesn't last 2 years
Updated Review Feb 2022 - Right on time the power supply goes out again after 2 years. AV-Express sent me a replacement power cord in 2020 and exactly 2 years later it goes out again. Speakers sound great, just don't expect the power cord to last more than 2 years. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I purchased these speakers in June 2018 after reading several of the reviews. The speakers worked great with good sound quality that filled our backyard. They easily connected to my cell phone or to my Alexa that's about 30 ft away. Using the EQ settings on my phone helped improve the overall sound quality. Like many of the other reviews, almost exactly 2 years later the power cord failed. I contacted AV-Express to request a new power cord, like many others have commented on. They asked me to send pictures of the connection type then sent a new power cord within a week. Although the connection type was the same, the actual connector on the new cord was about 4mm larger in diameter and would not fit into the speaker connection. I contacted AV-Express again to request a new power cord with the right connector size. Since the speakers I had were an older model, they no longer carried the power supply I needed. Instead they shipped me brand new pair of speakers since I was still within in the 2 year warranty time period and told me to keep the power cord they sent in case I need it in the future. The customer service was fantastic throughout the process and the new speakers sound even better and can reach a higher volume than the first set. Time will tell how long the power cord lasts on the new speakers. I took additional steps to enclose the power supply in a container and used heavy duct tape to seal all the connection points on the main speaker, leaving on the power button exposed.

UPDATE, 4 years later. Can I give these 10 stars?
UPDATE: I suppose it had to happen. After five great years, just went out to check on the pool to get ready for Memorial Day, stopped by my trusty rock speakers, plugged them back in, connected my phone, started some Sturgill and ...... Fuzz. That was a hell of a run. I see they're not even available at the moment, but if they ever come back, I wouldn't hesitate to buy them again. I'll bet if I pulled them inside for the winter, they might have last ten years.... UPDATE: Well, these have not moved from their spot by the pool since ordering them in 2018. Through standing rain, buried under 16 inches of snow from Jan-Feb, they keep going. Just connected my phone for the first hot weekend in the Northeast and they sound and work as good as ever. Money well spent! Speakers sound very good and made it through a torrential rain storm the first night I had them outside. Customer service is fantastic. Had a small issue with manufacturing that I was able to work around, but the seller offered to send a replacement speaker if needed. I thought they might be a bit louder than they are, but wife says the neighbors will think they're plenty loud enough. Also, I'll only add this as I learned it that hard way. I bought the speakers to link with my other echos and dots on a multi room group to have music playing inside and out. While no fault of these speakers in any way, multi room on Alexa does NOT work with bluetooth. So no dice. They are now stand alone speakers.
