I've never owned pepper spray before, but after coming across a video review on the NRA website and watching the YouTube demonstration, I was sold on this product. What initially caught my attention was that POM Industries has been around for over 45 years and that their pepper spray is made in the United States. However, what really convinced me to purchase it was the compact size and the flip-top firing system. The small size means I can keep it in my pocket at all times without even noticing it's there, and the flip-top design gives me peace of mind that I won’t accidentally trigger it when I’m reaching into my pocket. I bought the three-pack because the price was great, and I figured it couldn’t hurt to have a few extras around. According to the product description, it has the maximum strength allowed by law, a 10-12 foot stream range, and can deliver 12 seconds of continuous spray or up to 20 bursts in shorter intervals. I haven’t had the need to use it yet, but I plan to take one of the canisters to an open field to test it out, just so I’m familiar with how it works. I have carried these for years, replacing them whenever I lose one (read below) or one expires on me. I spent quite a while researching what you ACTUALLY want in an oc spray, as opposed to what marketers tell you you want. i also carry a pistol daily, but i have found experientially that spray will cover 90% of violent problems that awareness/talking your way out/running won't solve. the gun is something i will use if i have to, but i obviously would prefer not to. the spray falls in this (very large) defensive space between retreat and shoot. this is perfect for several reasons: -good percentage of capsaicin. the hotter the better. this is what you want. -it's a spray, not a gel or a mist. the spray is superior to a hard to aim gel or an easily dispersed/shorter range mist. the 10-15ft squirting spray is most reliable. -all that UV dye crap is BS. you don't need it. i dont even know if this has it; feel free to ignore this marketing gimmick. it's a quaternary concern at MOST when considering a defensive spray. -slim profile. you want it to be as light and easy to carry as possible. not carrying your self defense spray means you don't have it. this is very easy to carry. -user friendly. it's got a safety mechanism thats easy to use and that will prevent NDs while not getting in the way in a defensive situation. -carry clip: the only reason this loses a point is because the clip isn't as robust and snug as a cheap potmetal leafspring clip might be. i understand this is cheaper, so it's really not a big deal. still, the clip has caused me to lose the spray once or twice over five years. not ideal, but superior to a lack of any carry clip. it gives you a solid option for carry, but it could be better. -cost: it's great how cheap it is for this quality -customer service: the carrier lost my order, and the company immediately made it right. I have used many sprays over the years, but for the past five plus years, this is what i have both used and handed out to friends and family. I always test function a new spray before i carry, and I've never once had a lemon from this company (and, again, I've bought a LOT from them). tl;dr This is the optimal OC spray for daily carry, and I believe every person should have one.

So here’s how it went down… I bought this POM Pepper Spray Pocket Clip with Quick-Flip Top strictly for personal protection. You know — responsible, adult stuff. Anywho, I mention to my buddy about this POM spray I got and he immediately pulls out his, from Sabre Red. Well, maybe can see where this headed.. We could have just looked up reviews online. Anyways, the “test” started with us simultaneously spraying each other in the face with our respective OC sprays, mine the POM, his the Sabre Red. Well, guess what, they both were highly effective. Neither of us could see or breathe and I may have temporarily forgotten who I was, that is till, my wife came out, saw the spectacle, and just shook her head, muttered something about “Target having a sale.” Anyways, we only made it about halfway through the “planned” test before calling it a draw. We can now say that, through personal experience, both POM Pepper Spray and the stuff from Sabre Red are equally effective. And equally as in highly. Enough rambling, now the actual product — the flip-top is perfect. Easy to fire when you need it, but safe enough that you’re not going to spray yourself by accident… unless you’re an idiot doing backyard experiments. The clip may look like a cheap afterthought, but somehow it holds like it was welded to your jeans. I’ve done jumped in and out of the truck, and it hasn’t budged. It's also stealthy enough where it won't set off metal detectors and it also won't print through your clothes. The POM spray shoots farther than I expected too. I figured it’d be a short spritz, but nope — this thing’s got RANGE. Like, “tag a raccoon across the driveway” type of range. Of course, like all OC sprays, if you’re dumb enough to stand upwind when you're testing it out, you’ll get a free sample yourself. ✅ Pros: -Flip-top is quick, safe, and intuitive -Clip is more effective than it looks -Surprising range for its size -Stealthy — won’t set off metal detectors -Effective enough to end a grown man duel in seconds ❌ Cons: -Blowback in wind (but that’s all OC spray) -“Face-to-face testing” was a terrible idea (but that’s on me)
