Perfect fit!
We have a Rubbermaid 5-gallon gas can. Years ago, the vent cap was damaged accidentally, and we rigged together a repair that worked okay-but-not-the-best. When we came across these replacement caps, we figured it was worth a try. We weren't out too much for the price. We were pleased to find a perfect fit; this vent cap is identical to the original. And, since we received two, we have another in case of future mishaps. We also have saved a favorite gas can from retirement. We can't buy a new one, because it is no longer available. We have bought others through the years, but find all the safety "improvement" bells and whistles required now are really frustrating. People with common sense who respect the flammable properties of gasoline, kerosene and diesel fuel should not have a problem storing and dispensing them. All the safety features known to man won't stop idiots. Just "venting".

Great Replacements
Vent plugs worked great. Easy to replace and easy to add to cans without vents. Saved several cans from the landfill and saved money from buying new cans.

Handy & nicely priced.
You will go through at least one per can per year. Cheap enough that you just pop one out & pop another in & roll on.

Go OEM. It’s worth the few $ more.
I was replacing the poly vent in a 5 gal scibner plastics utility jug (I use it for gas). The neck on the old plug broke so I bought an inexpensive replacement (10 pack aftermarket replacement vents by KP Cool products, although I will assume most of the aftermarket plugs are the same). They looked close enough. I was wrong. There is a huge difference between the aftermarket and the OEM product (search Scribner 5223 jug poly event in Amazon). The aftermarket part does not fit snuggly into a 1/2 inch hole drilled into the poly jug and so it leaks. The air hole in the aftermarket part is .17 inches in diameter, the OEM is .23 inches in diameter (this is an 83% increase in sq area, which means more air in and more liquid out, faster). The OEM neck is approx 1.3x in width (this is what broke originally). And the cap on the OEM snaps in place, while the aftermarket part has a very loose hold and can open on its own. While you can get 2 OEM parts for the same price as a bag of 10, I’m glad I ended up going with the OEM parts. This is just my feedback to help others avoid the same mistake I made and save you time.

Stops the leak.
Fits & works like the original, but the tether is not as well made as the original. It split on installation. Overall it's good..

Great Service!!!
I received these vent caps on May 28, 2019. I needed them to retro fit these stupid "safety" gas cans in order for them to function properly and not spill gas all over my mower. anyway, although the vent caps were supposed to be in a pack of ten (10), mine only had eight (8). I wasn't about to squabble over the missing two caps but I mentioned it to Dustan in an email he sent checking up on my satisfaction on the order of the vent caps. he was very apologetic and assured me that the missing two vent caps will be sent and along with it he said he would include some yellow vent caps that were not yet available. low and behold, a package from Kool Products arrived today (Friday, June 7 2019) and it contained another ten (10) original Black vent caps along with twenty (20) Yellow caps! in all honesty, I prefer the Yellow over the Black as my gas cans have yellow covers/spouts so it matches better! as for the product itself, it's simple to install, drill a 31/64" hole (which is slightly smaller than 1/2") being careful not to get debris inside your gas can and it should "snap/click" into your can. I would suggest a touch of sealant/silicon to the outer rim of the vent cap insert to ensure a good seal. do this while the vent cap is open/flat so that the cap doesn't get sealed shut. it seems like a durable product and should last a long time. in conclusion: these can't be beat for $9.99. perfect to retro fit those pesky, government mandated "Safety" gas cans. purchase some immediately!

Beats buying new Govt. sanctioned containers
Caps on both my 5 gallon containers were shot. This definitely beats buying 2 new containers for $20 to $50 a piece and than also having to deal with the new, govt. mandated, safety features that everyone is complaining about. I think I can manage not to spill fuel myself, thank you very much. Plastic does seem to be good quality - seems to flex a little more than the old hard plastic caps (which I see as good). Not sure how long they'll last. Got new gaskets for the nozzles too. Hopefully won't have to buy a new, no-spill can in my lifetime.

Solves a minor but irritating problem
It's a simple thing really. Gas containers, those red ones with nozzles, should have parts that don't wear out after a year or two, but apparently the "O" rings that keep them from leaking are crap. I keep a few cans of gas during hurricane season, and many times those rubber rings split. Lowes couldn't help me. Home Despot couldn't help me. Oh, I could buy a new spout that probably wouldn't correctly fit my container. But these O rings work perfectly. Will they last for a few years? I don't know, but they're cheap enough to replace as I need to.
