Anthony Wesley 2/9/2018 Amazon Product Review: Color-Changing Mug Recently, I purchased this color-changing constellation mug from Amazon. I absolutely love it!. I decided to buy this mug for my beautiful girlfriend, who loves to look at stars every time we walk outside. It was part of a Christmas gift for her. I am so happy I bought it. I would definitely rate this product 5 out of 5 stars. Overall: To evaluate this product, I used simple criteria. One: the insulation of the mug. With this specific mug, I realized that it was a great insulator of heat, keeping my girlfriend’s coffee warmer for a longer amount of time than her average $3 mugs from Walmart. Appearance: Another criteria of judging I used was the overall appearance of the mug. This specific mug aside from it’s amazing color changing qualities, has a very smooth and shiny seal all over it. Making the mug easy to clean and easy to hold. When you first see the mug, it looks plain black and has stars all over it, even the handle. When you put hot liquid in the mug, (ie: coffee, hot chocolate, tea..) the entire mug changes color to let the owner see constellations clearly outlined all around the mug! The effect of the color-change is extremely fascinating overall. Functionality: It totally brings the mug to life in a fun way. Using this mug makes waking up early for class or work an even better experience as it wakes you up and reminds you of something amazing, the stars and constellations. As the liquid cools down again, the mug changes back to a plain black color, making it also reusable. The negatives about this product are that the handle of the star mug does not change color, but scientifically it makes sense why it wouldn't. The mug also is preferred to be hand washed only. I understand why it is not machine washable because it is so sensitive to heat, but it does make it a little more cumbersome to clean. Utilization: Lastly, I think this mug is perfect for those who live in cold weather (and enjoy hot drinks), or college students (who are fueled on coffee). This mug would even be perfect for learning children as when the constellations appear they also have names to go along with them so they understand. There are also nontraditional ways yo use this mug. I have commonly used this mug for the consumption of ice cream and it works perfectly when I also want to cool off on a hot day. My girlfriend drinks coffee at least 5 times per week, and she uses this mug as often as she can! I strongly recommend purchasing this mug!

This was a fun white elephant gift

I bought this as a Christmas present for my wife. I was a little worried about it arriving broken, so I made sure to order it with plenty of time to spare. Thankfully, it arrived without a single nick or dent. Now that my wife has had a chance to use it, I think we can both safely say that we love it. I'm a little disappointed that the sky ends up turning gray when the constellations appear with the hot drink, but that wouldn't have changed my decision when I was buying it. It's a hand wash only mug, which could be aggravating, but I understand why, and it's not a hard mug to clean, so I'm not annoyed by that either. This isn't a mug that you get just to have a mug - the price doesn't justify that. This is a mug that's meant to be special, not shoved among the other mugs. This is a mug meant to be something that makes you smile every time you pull it out. If constellations don't do that for you, I suggest finding a different mug. Or, if you just need a mug for the sake of a mug, head to Dollar Tree or Goodwill instead. Good sturdy mug, durable, and just plain fun. Well worth the price, and it made a great present. EDIT: Like others have commented, after a bit of use, the sticker started peeling off. We only ever handwashed the mug, and tried to be very careful about how we washed the outside of the mug, but it still happened. It only was a little circle the peeled off, just about as big as one star. So we immediately decreased the use (we went from using it almost daily to hardly ever) and tried to be even more careful in an attempt to preserve it. This happened to us just a couple months after we got it. We still love the mug and it's still functional even today, 4 years later, but the sticker WILL peel off. It's not a matter of that being careful will make it into an "if" it peels off. It will. You can't fight it.

Interesting cup

I bought this as a gift for my niece. She loves it. So far it works as advertised -- the stars show up all the time; the outlines of the constellations and their shapes show when the mug is filled with any hot beverage. It is microwave safe, but must be hand washed, never washed in a dishwasher. I don't know how long the heat sensitivity is supposed to last under optimal circumstances, but will be pleased if it lasts a year. In the meantime, both I and my niece are quite pleased with it. I also bought one of Unemployed Philosphers Guild's Alice in Wonderland mugs for her. My niece loves this as well. Be aware that for the longer quotes, the text is quite small, so older eyes may not be able to read it easily.
