Great dash cam
This is my first Dash cam, so I looked at various different devices. This one had great reviews and you get plenty of functionality for you money. 1st, it is very easy to configure, make sure you download the app and that will then pair the device to your phone. There are plenty of settings that are easy to use. The installation was simple I used the charging cable, It is a good length and I had no problems running the cable alone the side piller and above the sun blind. One thing to remember is to plug the charging cable into the window mount before fixing to the windscreen, as it can be a little tricky post fixing. What is a massive plus and I have not seen this before is the magnetic fixing bracket, this makes fixing and removing so easy with no fear of pulling the fixing mount off the windscreen massive plus. Play back could not be simpler, just open the app, with the camera power on, it will then create its own WiFi connection to the phone and you just download the clips that then save to your phone or you can use the USB cable and link the device to a PC. So in all, easy to setup, great video quality and a good price. Very pleased.

Great little device
Much smaller than my earlier version (402) purchased some years ago. Easy to install but you need to spend time on getting the position right especially if you opt for the rear-view camera add-on. Having established the right place by having an assistant hold the camera by hand against the screen I used masking tape to mark out the horizontal and vertical axes so the mount itself would be reasonably square. Those sticky pads are VERY sticky and you only get one shot at it otherwise you have the fun of removing it. Currently fitted to an Hyundai i10 and I found a reasonably clean route for the power cable under the headlining emerging at the bottom right of the screen across the dash to the cigarette lighter socket. I'll stick with that for now but might upgrade to the wired in option later. Overall it works very well with a U3 class Samsung micro SD card. One nice feature is that the screens average that blanks the display after a minute or so can be set to show your speed derived from the GPS system.

Excellent dashcam
Brilliant dash cam with clear footage and an easy-to-use interface. The image quality is excellent and overall it feels solid and reliable. The only thing to be aware of is the 5 m cable — depending on your car and how neatly you want to hide the wiring through trims and nooks, it may be a little tight for some setups. That said, I like it enough that I’ve ordered the rear camera as well, which comes with a longer 6 m cable. Fingers crossed that completes the setup perfectly.

Small and neat - great dashcam for the price
Very small and unobstructive. Connected to app fast (you have to be in the car to connect). Easy to download videos and all round a great bit of kit. Night vision is clear and all in all does exactly what it says on the advert. A++

Great, reliable little gadget
Excellent camera, user friendly menus. Clear installation instructions. Hasn't missed a beat yet. Great for helping to provide proof of naughty driving.

Not fit for purpose. Unreliable. May as well buy a £100 brick
If havent got time to read the main review below, here's a summary: * Runs really hot (almost to hot to touch) so cooks cards * So far killed 2 cards (one nextbase, one sandisk) * Partially freezes by it's own choice, or when the "event" button is pressed * Instructions say to format the card every 2 weeks implies some kind of bad programming or unresolved issue * Basically unreliable - which is the worst thing for a dashcam. ================================================================ This is my first Nextbase dashcam, after having over 20 dashcams over the years (mostly the cheap & unbranded G1W). This is a nice camera, well made and a good size. The two mounts are good. The plugin rear view camera plugs in nicely and is fairly adjustable. Initial setup was good, it wanted firmware, so it got it. All good so far. Unfortunatley, thats where the good ends. Now the bad (using Andoid Pixel2 phone with Android 9) * Hardly ever connects to the phone * When it doies connect to the phone, setting up "high-speed wifi" takes what seems like forever (but it's probably a minute or so, or not at all). * The transfer of clips is appallingly slow. In my book, hi-speed wifi is upto 5 seconds for 100Mb, but this takes forever...dial-up style aka it's 1999 on a modem * Using the rear camera means 2 clips to transfer for every minute. You can only choose to download 5 at a time. WHY???? I had some dodgy geezer on the phone infront/behind me for several miles. This would mean about 10 clips. What a dumb, arbitary limit. Perhaps sending moire clips makes it hotter and it will explode (see below) * it gets incredibly hot (it was around 10C outside this morning, in car was maybe 15 (I had the rear window open) yet the dashcam was almost too hot to touch - that must be around 60-70C (and thats with the screen off). This cannot be good for the long term relaibility of the components, especially in the summer when the car interior will be 50-60C. The instructions say "Do not operate the Dash Cam outside of the following temperature range: from -20° to 45°C" - basically it looks like they wont cover any battery warranty claims because it gets hot and kills the battery. That means the parking sensor function wont work because the battery will have died after a year. * Alexa just doesn't work. There are also no instructions, niot even in the instruction manual on the web (except generic phrases like "alex, play the news". No Alexa Skill. Support do not answer the correct questions such as "what do I say to store clips" they reply "the alexa app and nextbase apps need to be open at the same time". I'm assuming until the skill is available, this feature is totally useless. * The downloadable instructions say to re-format the card every 2-3 weeks. Why? I have never done this on any dashcams. I don't reformat my computer much, do you???? Does this indicate some slightly dodgy programming when it comes to saving files, or, more likely a get-out-of-jail clause that when there is a court case and the camera is "frozen" so the clip is lost they can say "you didnt format your card". I suspect this is more likely. Very sneaky. (Interestingly, later in the manual it says reformat every 2 weeks, not 2-3 as mentioned earlier in the manual). Odd. So far, I've had it a couple of days with 6 hours driving. I've two incidents I want to copy to my phone but so far have been unable to do so due to appalling software. Either it takes forever to copy, or it doesnt connect to the app (despite many reboots, bluetooth on/off, unpair & re-pair, etc). I may need to go old school and "take the card out and put it into my computer" but that defeats the object of this camera and the extra cost for the wireless features. Hence 1* for the Night vision and Picture quality on this review, because I cant get the clips off the camera! As of mid-September 2019 , this is a "minimum viable product" when using Android. I hope they get their bums in gear and write some better software to hook up to a potentially good camera. Finally, I notice that m,any reviews online that give high marks (WHich?, TechAdvisor, etc) all give glowing reviews due to features that don't yet work properly. Do these bozoes not actually use the product and just read the marketing material? if there is a firmware or App update that fixes functionality I'll amend this review. ============================================================================== It's 20-09-19 and there is now an Alexa skill. You need to go into Alexa to activate the dashcam as well as via the Nextbase app. It's still a bit naff. If you say "Alexa, start recording" it will reply "I cannot find any video enabled skills" so you need to say "Alexa, start dashcam recording" (or something longwinded like that). Just press the button. In the end, to transfer files I removed the card from the camera and put it in the computer. Transferring is that bad. The rear footage was "wobbly" like a jelly, but it was clear. I havent seen that effect for years on the cameras I had on my bicycles. I was running a different resolution to defaut at 60fps, so I have chnaged it to higher resolution at 30fps. Will update the review if any better. Front camera image quality is ok. =============================================================================== It's 25-09-19 and I have noticed something even more worrying. It keep stopping recording without warning. In the old days, dashcams used to freeze and needed to be hard-reset, but this carries on working ok just doesnt record. See my image where just under 30 mins is missing. I'm using a 128Gb Nextbase card formatted by the camera. I hope all owners of the 422gw check their camera to make sure this isnt happening to them. I have formatted again. if this continues tomoroow, i'll have to send it back. wehats the point of a dashcam that stops recording? ======================================== 21st oct 19 After talking to Nextbase about the issues above, they reckoned the card was faulty (a Nextbase 128Gb U3 class 10 card) so I sent that back and got a Sandisk U3 "endurtance" card (you need these long life cards to handle the constant write cycles)). It did work ok for about two weeks. I now notice that it freezes (requiring the power to be pulled out so the battery goes flat), or it records but wont respond to the "event button" press (so I miss exciting road events) or it records sporadically. I'm wondering whether it runs so hot that it cooks that cards? I'll give Nextbase another ring and see what they say.

Quality, well made dash cam with high quality footage and great features.
This camera is very nice quality. The mounting bracket is magnetic and works very well, it holds the camera very firmly and is so much better than the cheap thin plastic swivel mounts I've had on previous dash cams. The instructions for fitting were clear and they even supply a trim lever tool to help you to hide the cables behind trims when fitting which I found very useful. The rear window camera is very compact and is also on a magntic mount which works very well. The quality of the recorded footage is very good and clear, and this dash cam has added features such as wifi,Bluetooth, gps, emergency services S.O.S. alert parking mode plus others. One feature this camera has is Alexa compatability, although after trying to set it up for a while, I found this feature has not been executed very well and as many other reviews state is a bit of a waste of time, as I just couldn't get it to work properly. Other than the Alexa problem, this camera meets all my dash cam needs. I purchased a hard wire kit separately and it is connected direct to my car's fuse box so I don't have to have a cable plugged into my lighter socket. I would recommend Nextbase dash cams as they have plenty of useable features, are very well made and are reasonably easy to install. Price wise they are more expensive than other less well known makes but the quality of the camera and accessories justify spending that bit more for a well made set up. It is far superior to the Toguardset up I had before.

Great clip quality. Dire connection to phone so a bit of a lost cause for me
Quality of recordings and pictures is perfect. Easy to set up and mostly easy to use. However, I just could not get it to download any video clips to my iPhone Pro. It made a ‘high-speed wifi connection (apparently) but then just wouldn’t download a single solitary clip. Every time I wanted to download clips I had to unmount it and remove the micro SD card. Total pain. Won’t buy it again.
