Excellent Synthetic Shaving Brush!
As other men have noted here, although intended for cosmetics, it performs very well as a shaving brush. This was recommended to me by a female friend (her boyfriend uses it). Before I grew out my beard many years ago, I used to shave every day and I previously tested a variety of name brand brushes. None of them were satisfactory. This performs exemplary and still costs less than a cheap badger brush from China.Be aware that this brush is EXTREMELY soft – the bristles are made of Taklon, which is a synthetic replacement for sable hair. I like my brushes this way, but some men may find it doesn’t suit them. I have yet to lose a single bristle from day one. This is a very well made product. The handle is very comfortable to use and is a good size for my average hands.Aside from not having to kill any badgers for the use of their hair, a Taklon brush is allergy free. Animal hair brushes also have issues with bacteria and fungus growing on them and cleaning them with chemical shampoos usually ruined the brush for me. If you are having skin issues – switch brushes. When I was younger I couldn’t figure out why I had embarrassing skin problems on my face and a synthetic brush made a huge difference. The price appears to be on par with mall stores. I paid $13 for 2 brushes on Amazon. I happened to be at a cosmetics store with a friend and found they were selling this brush 2 for $12. It seems this brush is discounted when you buy two because when I asked the price of one, she told me it was $9! Maybe that’s why this is sold as a “Pack of 2” on Amazon.

Makes a decent shaving brush, but I don't like it as a makeup brush
I actually bought this to use as a shaving brush. I'm a woman, so I figured if I hated shaving with it, I'd just use it as a makeup brush. It's soft and lathers well. It doesn't smell or have a break-in period like the animal hair shaving brushes do. If you're a guy starting out with wet shaving, you might like this brush. If you're a woman, look at the Omega boar bristle brushes. They start at the same price point and with ones like the Pro 48/49, you'll get a brush that'll lather your legs up in no time. I like the handle of this kabuki brush though, and might stick a badger knot in it.As a makeup brush, it's okay. ELF makes a really cheap kabuki in their studio line that has a lot more bristles in it and picks up powders way better.

good for a travel shaving kit!
a good deal for TWO (yep, i received two in my order) synthetic brushes... a bit shorter and flatter-cut bristles than i like, but i just finished applying some men's shave cream (wet brush in hot water, put dollop of cream from tube in brush, apply to wet face) and shaving with my made-in-the-USA Weber stainless double-edge safety razor - great shave!these brushes will work well for a travel kit, because:1) you don't have to worry about thorough drying out between shavesand2) you won't cry like a little girl if you leave it in the hotel room after checkout (unlike if you had left your cherished silvertip badger brush):-)a good deal! (i took one star off due to the short bristles)

Not great for shaving, probably good for its intended use
There is nothing wrong with the brushes as such (unlike some reviewers I did receive two). The brush is very soft. Much softer than any shaving brush I own. Too soft really. It lathers OK but only holds enough for one pass, then you have to re-lather. But that's not really an issue, I find a lot of brushes with smaller knots are like that.Because this brush so soft and I have a coarse beard, I found this to be unsuitable as a shaving brush. It won't exfoliate AT ALL and it won't lift the whiskers if you have a stiff coarse beard as I do.If you use different shaving products, or don't have a coarse beard, or if you have sensitive skin, this very very soft brush might be a good brush for you. As a makeup brush I suppose it might be great. But I bought this as a shaving brush based or recommendations that it be used for that purpose. I thought it was not terrible for that, but not particularly good either.

great shaving brush
I bought this as a shaving brush based on some informed reviews. I was not disappointed. After a month it is still like new and it works great for lathering up in the morning. My wife said the second brush was too soft for her makeup uses but would be good for adding shine or other light top coats for makeup. Its a great value if you want a good quality shaving brush.NOTE: no badgers died in the making of this brush. That is a PRO or a CON depending on how you feel about badgers.Update - March 2014: So, after about six months the brush still looks and feels brand new. I rinse it out after daily use and hang it on a shaving stand to dry. About every other week or so I wash it out in warm water with a touch of shampoo. This keeps it in great condition. It has not noticeably shed bristles over the last six months.

Very Nice, but too small/soft for me to use as a shaving brush.
I am very pleased with the quality of this brush and I am sure it makes a fine makeup brush (what it is meant for). I bought these based on the lowish price and, the reviews stating that they also make great shaving brushes. Personally I found the one I used to be too small and soft for my use as a shaving brush. Why five stars then? Well, not being sure what to with the used brush, after it dried, I presented to my wife to see if she could use for make up or something. She was very pleased, even though it is more or less a hand me down. She likes the size and softness. Apparently she would not normally buy such a brush for her self due to the normally high price. She was happy, not only with the brush but the good deal the price for two represented. The second I may save for her, give to another female friend/relative, or use as a fine gun cleaning/oiling brush.

One for the Ladies.
One for the ladies. Makes an excellent shaving brush for the fairer sex. Its too soft really for male bristles but suits my wife fine. Odd stuff, very soft bristles, probably the softest you will find anywhere. The handle seems a little lightweight for bamboo and has an interesting plastic feel but I'll give them the benefit and call it bamboo, which it probably is. Originally marketed as a make-up, powder brush it makes a lovely gift for your lady whatever use she puts it to.

Ok
very soft but the density of the hairs is sparce compared to the brush I'm replacing. If it were lush then the brush would look like an open umbrella but this looks more like a shaving brush. This may be a subjective opinion, I don't know. I do like ecotools other brushes that I've bought.
