LaserJet Pro M404n Monochrome Printer with Built-in Ethernet (W1A52A)

I love this printer for a lot of reasons, and the top would be the setup. It was flawless and fast. This is key when I am setting user PC's up. I was able to add it to the network and all the users were able to discover it quickly. The print quality is pretty good for this printer and I would definitely recommend this for someone who is doing a lot of standard printing. This particular one was setup in a medical environment to print receipts and other paperwork. HP really has great support on the printer side and I am able to reach out with issues and get them resolved fast for clients. I have rarely had to use the support- if that is to say much. Want something that prints good and easy to set-up? Then you can rely on this model to do the trick for you and be a good printer.

I don’t understand the negative reviews for this. I literally took it out of the box, plugged it in, added it as a printer on my computer and printed. Worked like a charm. If you have bought a printer before you know NO printer comes with a cable (only the power cord), so make sure you add one to your cart. And any product that comes with an ink cartridge is ALWAYS a sample and won’t last very longer. So get a extra cartridge. All of this is written in the description. Even if you bought this in a store it would be the same thing. I would definitely recommend this printer.

This is a great laser printer for the price. It was easy to set up and prints pretty fast. I highly recommend this printer for business or personal use.

Network connection was automatic and fast.

I bought this printer last year, end of April 2020. Great printer in a small footprint/package. Recently, we decided to get another for an employee to do "check runs" -- not tie up a community printer (nothing worse than someone printing an email on check paper). Imagine my surprise -- I paid $170 on 30-Apr-20 (sold and shipped by the all-mighty AMZ) and now, a little over a year later, holy crap, the same exact printer (sold and shipped by AMZ) costs $300. Wait, WHAT!?!?!? I guess this proves space flight isn't cheap. Anyway, pandemic, supply chain, inflation and tax manipulation aside, it's a KICKAZZ little printer (would expect nothing less from HP). That said, it's not worth $300. Maybe in 10-15 years.

It was nowhere near the quality feel of the printer it was replacing but I expected more than 13 months. We just replaced the original short fill toner it arrived with 13 months ago. It was not even empty, just alerting to low and the user did not want any down time so replaced a working toner. 13 months on a starter toner is extremely low usage for a supposedly business level printer. Two days ago it started hanging print jobs from the user perspective. However, at night I examined and found that it was asking about page size suddenly after working fine the day before. The web interface showed the date and time were m10 years off. Also the tray settings were set to undefined paper type and size so I set it all up and set the time to match computer and figured all fine. One day later I received a call of same symptoms and remoted in to find that the date was once again 2012 in the web interface and the tray settings were back to the bad definition that causes trouble. Logged in to HP support and engaged chat whereupon I was told that the chat person would not help me because the printer has a 1 year warranty and was out of support. WE REPLACED a hp 5900 that had worked that job for 10 years with this piece of unsupported junk that failed in 13 months of usage so low that it did not even use up the starter toner in a year. BAD PRODUCT DO NOT BUY HP. YOU WILL LIKELY JUST THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY.

I had one of these when I worked. I decide to go to two printers at home, one for my photos and one for my word docs. I decided to buy a trusted friend and got this printer. It is great. Print quality is awesome. It is quick. It resolved all my printer issues

These are solid printers that we use in a dusty warehouse. We have had zero mechanical issues, they just keep working. We only buy them when we need to setup a new desk, haven't had one fail yet.

Product made for office and home. It is a good and fast printer, but cartage is expensive. The toner price is more than half the price of the printer.

My 20 year old Samsung printer was on it's last days and I replaced it with this HP M404n. It's not wireless but then neither was my Samsung. I unpackaged the new printer, added paper, plugged it in, added it to my Win 10 laptop (through settings and devices) and printed a pdf file. My TELUS network even assigned the new printer the same IP address as my old printer. The HP small screen shows the IP address while printing. The print was nice and crisp.
