Festool 500312 CT Wings Extra Hand

Amazing “little” device! It was of great help installing a long run of french cleat supports for some wall cabinets. Truly was like having a helping hand. Suction is more than strong enough for 8ft long 1x6 material and I imagine would work pretty well with longer boards or crown mounding. It’s not meant for heavy objects, but perfectly suited for lighter boards such as those mentioned above. Mind my installation was on a non-textured wall; I’ve not tested on textured walls yet.

Festool has developed a pretty unique tool with these wings. I have to admit I barely ever find myself using them due to the fact that I almost never work alone, but if you do find yourself working alone and needing another hand they are great. The photo makes these look pretty small so I was surprised when I opened the box and saw how large they were. They aren't going to hold a lot of weight so don't expect them to hold a 2X12 or anything like that, but they are strong enough to support a length of crown molding or a long level. The adjustable wings are nice for preventing whatever you are working with from falling off the support.

Don’t expect this thing to hold up 100lbs. But for moderately weighted things, it’s amazing. Works decently on textured walls as well. Not an everyday tool but when you need it, you need it!

If you work by yourself this is a must have. The holding power is amazing!

Bought it because it's a novel concept. Turns out it works as advertised. Tried it with a shop vac just for fun and the shop vac I have must not have enough suction for the wing to work correctly. With my MIDi or CT26 it works awesome.

If your walls have any significant texture on them, this will not hold well as it cannot make a good seal. Good idea, but not over orange peel or textured walls

I have used this "extra hand" a few times already and it works great. Be sure the surface is somewhat dust free and it will adhere well.

Works best on non porous surfaces

Eben Festool, man ärgert sich nicht selbst auf diese Einfache geniale Idee gekocht zu sein. Perfekt in Anwendung und Qualität,eben Festool.

I was a little sceptical of this but it works well and has got me out of a few holes.
