FANTASTIC eBook!
I purchase lots of kindle books to read on my iPad, and I must say, of all the art/craft eBooks I've ever seen, 250 Tips, Techniques and Trade Secrets for Potters outshines them all. The book itself is terrific, thoroughly covering the basics that novice potters/ceramic artists need to know, with tons of full-color photos and detailed instructions and information. It's a go-to resource that I'm sure I will use for many years to come. But, what I really appreciate about this book as an eBook is the way it's laid out and organized so nicely, how the chapters are so easy to navigate, and how BRILLIANT every page looks on my iPad. The photos are big and bold, and they don't lose resolution when you enlarge them if needed. I love this book, and if you're hesitant to pay over $10 for an eBook (as I was), let me reassure you, this one is worth it!Sharilyn Miller, author of the Arty Jewelry series

A most have in any class/studio environment
This book is EXCELLENT! All very useful tips and if you are not a novice it's very easy to apply them. It's like a notebook of reminders and sensible tricks that make a potters life easier and in most of the cases saves money. I can't stop going through the pages, not in any order but a nice cover-all little guide.I didn't give it 5 stars because I was expecting a larger size, but since I have to use glasses in either case, I kinda like the more portable size... it's going in and out of the studio w/me all the time. Enjoy!

Great resource for a self-taught beginner
I bought this book for my father for a Christmas present. I knew he would never enroll in a pottery class - it isn't his style - but at 86 he has taken up pottery in a big way and needed some tips. He really dove into the book and within days was experimenting with techniques that were new. Right now he is working on a soup turreen for me and found tips for how to create a properly fitting lid. Since my Dad is a hard person to please, I know this has to be a good book. If you want to teach yourself, this is good book to have beside your wheel.

Not so secret info in here...
I got this thinking it would be stuff that people learn after much trial and error...you know, "trade secrets", like the title. The info is very basic and very brief so it covers a little about a lot...which I guess is good if you know near to nothing about the subject. I don't know a whole lot about clay but as I said, I was hoping for something that would teach me things that I didn't know. I guess I already know a little about a lot so it was fairly useless for me. That said, the information that was given was clear with nice pictures etc. But just not enough of it. I would probably be better off with something all about just a few subjects as opposed to trying to cover it all in one swoop.Overall, this might be the book if you want to see what ceramics/pottery entails and if it's something you want to embark on. But if you already know, get a different, more specific book.

So very helpful
I am using a sculpting clay and want to move on to potter's clay. I don't know anything about clay, kilns, firing and all that, this book filled me in. The book concentrates on making pots but is full of useful information about potter's clay in general. Now I know what to ask clay suppliers. Also can ask my potter friends intelligent questions.

Lots and lots of tips
Lots of short tips on different aspects of pottery. Don't expect in-depth discourse on techniques with this book but do expect a lot of short and to the point answers for many aspects of clay working. I would buy it again and am so glad it is available am an e-book since that is where I read most of my books these days.

A gem of a book!
I recently started pottery and ceramics classes and unashamedly confess to being completely addicted to this art! My tutor happened to have this book with her at one of the classes and let me borrow it when I expressed an interest in it - what a gem of a book it is! The layout is clear and simple, totally user-friendly, and the pictorial step-by-step guidance on both basic and more advanced techniques and projects is excellent! This book is certainly a must-have for anyone starting out along the potter's road and also appears to be a trusty "vade mecum" for the more seasoned potters of this world! Definitely to be recommended - an excellent buy!

playing with clay!
This beautifully presented book has something on every page to inspire. As a beginner, the tips and techniques set my heart racing... I just had to try them -- and so I did! I now have many pieces for my home and gifts for friends. ( I am lucky enough to have access to a kiln locally ) .This book has tempted me to think about buying my own small kiln. If you like projects that are very on trend, and using your hands, then this book is for you. .
