Perfect for a spayed small dog
This recovery collar worked perfectly for my Shiba Inu after spay surgery. The adjustable Velcro makes it easy to put on, remove, and readjust for meals. My dog was comfortable enough to sleep in it, and it could even double as a small travel pillow for me for car rides! One limitation: this style may not protect wounds located below the belly. For upper-body surgeries like spay/neuter it is very effective. Overall, a well-designed, comfortable alternative to a plastic cone that keeps dogs calm and mobile during recovery. Recommended for pets with upper-body surgeries

Good, but not wide enough
This collar is so cute and clearly comfy as my dog cannot keep his eyes open once it’s on him and he’s been snoring so much! However, unfortunately for him, the diameter is not wide enough as he can still get to his castration wound. We got the biggest size and he’s a Golden Retriever x Labrador. Such a shame because I was really hoping this would help!

Better alternative to the cone of shame
We got a size L for our border terrier to prevent him from licking his stitches after being neutered. It works well for this purpose but it’s worth keeping in mind that your dog will probably still be able to lick their back paws and the end of their tail. It’s much more comfortable for him than the plastic e collar from the vet and is pretty much the same as a travel pillow. It’s easy for him to sleep while wearing it. He’s able to reach his food and water without help, sniff at the floor etc. He wouldn’t go to the toilet while wearing the e collar but is happy to go while wearing this inflatable collar so that suggests he finds it more comfortable. He’s able to see and hear better with this product compared to the cone. Dog’s collar attaches to the inside of the cover through loops. The cover quickly gets dirty so you’ll need a have an alternative cone/collar to use while you wash the cover. A couple of things to watch out for: while there are loops to secure your dog’s normal collar to the inflatable collar and a Velcro closure, your dog might still be able to get their front legs through it and get stuck. I wouldn’t leave a dog unsupervised in this. Additionally, the chunkiness of the collar makes it easy for the dog to trip over at the front because the collar rubs along the ground when dog has its head down sniffing. Wearing the collar makes jumping on furniture difficult but not impossible which is a consideration post-surgery. You’ll probably need to keep your dog away from stairs if it’s small or has short legs as the collar can be such a trip hazard, but this is true for the cone style collars too. Overall I’d recommend this because it’s much more tolerable and comfortable compared to the traditional plastic collar, but I’d say use it with supervision.

Great alternative to the “cone of shame”
Lovely alternative to the dreaded “cone of shame”. My dog recently had an op and I wanted to make sure he was as comfy as possible during a long recovery. This was a great buy - although I brought the wrong one by mistake, this is almost identical, cheaper and just as effective as the one I intended to buy. Pros: - lovely and soft (no scratches to furniture from the stiff plastic of normal cones etc) - seems robust/ thick material , with a fabric type cover, not just plastic. Still washable. - comfortable for sleeping - dog can see and move more freely (the old cone would restrict his field of vision and he would catch the cone on door frames etc- the donut just acted as a cushion)! - easier to fit dog into a crate than trying to allow him to turn around wearing a regular cone., - neck sizing was good. Simple but effective/ strong Velcro fastening. Hasn’t managed to pull it over his head/ take it off. Cons: - the diameter of the donut is quite small. My dog is long with long legs so he could still reach the wound on his knee if he wanted to. The donut did seem to act as a deterrent though. Would be perfect for neuter, torso or hip surgery/ injuries. - blowing it up was a bit of a struggle. You have to bite hard onto the inner/ wider part of the value to get it to open. Fine once you know. Otherwise you look a bit of a plonker at the vet not being able to inflate it! Test before you need it! - not really a con, but I liked the shark design. But it has ‘fins’ on the side. I though these might be too tempting for my other dog- and his recovery wouldn’t be helped by having her swinging from them as he hobbled by.

The Recriminating Look Says It All
Our poor baby needed an operation on her cheek last week. She wouldn’t stop scratching at the scar and the cone of shame just wasn’t cutting it. Honestly don’t know why vets still use them - has anyone ever had success with their dog keeping it on? Anyway, after much hunting, we found this beauty. Sure, we wanted a comically designed one but this was cheaper and had better reviews. She’s been wearing it all day (on walks, during mealtimes and when sleeping) and she hasn’t tried to get it off once. She actually looks pretty comfortable in it (she always looks like she’s judging me harshly and finding me lacking so don’t let the photo fool you 🤷🏻♀️). Boo’s a big sized Jack Russell and the medium sized collar fits perfectly. It inflates easily and slips onto her collar with no trouble. She wore it on her walk and it got wet but dried really quickly. Highly recommend (the collar, not the dog, she’s trying bankrupt us with vet fees).

My dog needed an elizabethan collar when she was a puppy and it was an afwul experience for her so I tried to look for an alternative and isn't cone shaped. I understand that some wounds can be reached by a dog depending on its location, but my dog couldn't reach hers after her spaying. Seems way more comfortable than the cone - which was needed for her as she sleeps in her crate at night, so she needed something to move around more easily. The removable cover makes it super easy to clean. Doesn't seem to deflate much (could go multiple days without the need to reflate). Size chart was accurate. Velcro strap is very secure! Also acts a little pillow for my doggo :)

Cinquestelle meritatissime.

Comfortable and allows pup to eat drink and sniff the ground! Puppy so much happier and not traumatised like she's was with cone.
