Disclaimer: Your actual experience with a fragrance will vary depending on your body chemistry and how you use the fragrance. I find Tom Ford's Oud Wood to be a beautiful masterpiece of perfumery. Oud as a fragrance ingredient is difficult to work with. It's very strong. It can have a very sharp, almost animallic, and even offensive nature. In Oud Wood for the Tom Ford line, perfumer Richard Herpin has managed to capture the beauty and mystery of Oud without any downside at all. What he has not done, however, is stripped the Oud of its beautiful character and expression. Oud is a note often stereotyped as associated with middle-eastern/Arabic-style perfumery, but Herpin here navigates around those stereotypes by perfectly featuring Oud in a decidedly-European/American-style fragrance. Style: Woody oriental Gender: Tom Ford sells Oud Wood as unisex. I've no doubt that there are a few woman out there who wear it; I'm not sure that I want to meet any of them. In my opinion, this is a very masculine fragrance. Age: This is, in my opinion, best suited for a more mature man, 30+. Dress Level: In my opinion, this is a dressy, formal fragrance, very classy. Dress appropriately. Time of Day: In my opinion, this is a fragrance that is best suited for evening and nighttime wear. Seasonality: In my opinion, this is a fragrance that is best suited for late-fall, winter, and early-spring, cooler weather. Oud can get a bit "funky" in the heat and sometimes doesn't always blend well with "natural body scents." Office/Work-appropriate: This depends entirely on your occupation and office, of course. But, I suspect that, for most of us, this is not an office/work scent. For most of us, this is likely to be a special-occasion/dress-to-impress sort of scent. "Signature"/everyday scent potential: This is a very personal choice, of course. But, for most of us, I suspect that this will not be a candidate for "signature"/everyday scent. It's just too formal for that and really strikes me as much more of an evening/nighttime scent. For most of us, this is likely to be a special-occasion/dress-to-impress sort of scent. Longevity: Outstanding, 12+ hours. Strength: This is an Eau De Parfum, so just a couple of sprays is all you need. The result is that a 50ml bottle lasts a long time. Projection (how far does the scent travel from the wearer): Average for masculine scents Sillage (how long does the scent linger after the wearer leaves): Average for masculine scents Loudness (how strongly does the scent assert itself above others in the air): Well above average... but in a classy way. Projection, Sillage, and Loudness together define what is sometimes called "power." You hear people talk about "powerhouse scents" vs. "skin scents" (those which stay close to the skin). Tom Ford Oud Wood is not a powerhouse, but it is no skin scent either; it is a well-behaved, well-proportioned gentleman's fragrance. Like the gentleman who would wear it, it's never too loud, not too strong, never offensive, but always contributes just the right touch of elegance and sophistication. The product I received exactly matched the sample I have from an unquestionable source, so I'm confident that it's authentic. The presentation is very good. The package arrived very, very fast. It was well-packaged. However, if I have a complaint is is that it is ordinary and expected for $300 fragrance purchases to come with a few samples to entice the buyer further; this supplier sent nothing.

Well if you're reading my review, I'll first preface the review with the fact that Amazon really messed up. I did make the purchase of Oud Wood here. However the order never arrived, although tracking showed it as delivered. It may have been stolen. But when I received the notification of the delivery, I wasted no time heading outside to grab the cologne. I'd saved up for a couple of months for the purchase. So I followed Amazon's requirement to file a police report for the missing order. However this billion dollar corporation would not refund me or send a replacement. Absolutely shameful behavior on their part. Additionally, the actual seller BSLLC USA would not even reply initially, however when they finally did, they also refused to step up and make things right. So let's get right back to Tom Ford's Oud Wood. I bought a travel size at Nordstrom and was absolutely floored. It's so different from anything else on the market. Of course I love the Oud scent but it also has rosewood, which if you've ever played guitar, you'll know what that wood is. The longevity is incredible. I spray about 3 to 4 shots in the morning. 1 on each wrist and 1 on each side of my neck, and wow! Not only does it last long, but it reaches out with what's called sillage. People notice. I don't walk around looking for compliments, but have received many. Women love it. It's a conversation starter/ice breaker. I highly recommend it. Many reviewers suggest it is an evening or dress up fragrance, or one not to wear during summer. I disagree. This fragrance is absolutely gorgeous, rich, woody and with a very lush mild spiciness. The dry down does not disappoint. In closing, Amazon and the seller really disappointed me. I was ready to cancel my account as a result. I actually returned to Nordstrom and bought a bottle from them. Wonderful customer service as well. I also picked up a bottle of TF Tobacco Oud. Another gorgeous fragrance that makes you feel rich, high class and just smells perfect.

Good smell

Buyer beware. I’ve worn Tom Ford Oud Wood for years and know the scent well. This bottle smelled normal at first, but about halfway through it developed a strong, rancid odor that ruined clean clothing. Multiple people independently confirmed the smell. This is not how authentic Oud Wood behaves. The item was sold by a third-party seller, and based on my experience I would strongly recommend purchasing this fragrance only from authorized retailers

Not my favorite in Tom’s line by any means, I’d say it falls between a late summer/ fall scent. Mixture of smokey sandal wood/cedar and beach (my opinion) Not trying to offend anyone with my description, just laying it out for the interested purchaser. It’s heavy, one blast will last. This is a 50/50 cologne, some will love it some will hate it.

I got this for my man, and let me tell you… I was not prepared. The first time he put it on, I completely forgot what I was doing. Mid-sentence? Forgot the words. Walking past him? Had to turn around for another sniff. I’m pretty sure this cologne has mind-control properties because suddenly, everything he said sounded like a great idea. Does he smell expensive? Yes. Mysterious? Absolutely. Like he belongs in a luxury ad where he casually stares into the distance? 100%. If you want your man to smell like he has his life together (even if he doesn’t), get this. Just be prepared to lose focus whenever he walks by.

I was very sceptical about buying this given there is a review claiming this is fake, so sceptical I even messaged the seller HBST Supply to ask for proof of authenticity before I bought. Given I was a bit of an annoying customer and to help others the might be questioning spending so much of a fragrance I am writing this review. First of all this is absolutely real and smells amazing. This is the quality you would expect of Tom Ford and of something at this price point. I have a few fragrances that men typically have (Dior Sauvage, Bleu de Chanel, Tom Ford Noir Extreme etc) but none are as good as this and none have gotten as many compliments. The best word to describe the scent is simply luxury. Pros: - longevity. The scent lasts at least 13 hours so a similar duration to Tom Ford Noir Extreme - subtlety. Many fragrances can be overpowering but this is ideal. Cons: - the price. I was very lucky to get this when the seller had put this for sale at £140 down from £220 and this is still an unbelievably high price. If you are price conscious but after something reasonably close and available for less than half the cost I would suggest either Dolce & Gabbana The One or YSL La Nuit de L’homme (emphasis on reasonably close, I have these fragrances too and they are simply not as good as Tom Ford Oud Wood) If you’re willing to pay the cost I would highly recommend this. 5 stars.

Niet sterk en blijft maar kort

Never again blind buy a fragrance, new formula for Tom Ford’s fragrance is getting weaker. Expensive EDP should stay longer than 45 minutes. Nice smell though.
