What is the waist size for med & large?

I have 42 waist then order XL, it is still a loose fit. dont ever believe to order XXL for 38 inch waist size.

My son is 17 6 foot and solid and large fits fantastic. If he’s slim I would say medium unless he likes baggy clothes then large
