The entire kit is not needed.
Really all you are going to need from the kit is your stamp and your wax sticks. I bought this to add a little something to our wedding invites. Starting out I try to cut off a little of the wax to put in spoon provided to melt down. It wasn’t working out so well. The wax is very difficult to cut. Also you have to wait for the spoon to get hot enough to melt the wax that takes awhile. The best way I found to melt down the wax is use either a torch lighter, match, or zippo lighter to melt down the wax. It goes a lot quicker than to cut it and wait for it to melt in the spoon. Also use a pair of pliers to hold the wax stick so you don’t burn yourself. Get more than 3 sticks of wax if using for wedding invites.

You get what you pay for, really
The stamp is good quality, no chips or irregularities in the design. Makes for a beautiful seal, if you work fast enough. The wax has a crayon smell, which is strange, but it does the job...once it actually melts. It cools very quickly, making it difficult to get a full pour. The wax spoon is CHEAP--very bendy, and can heat to the handle when you're holding the spoon over the tiny (and rather useless) tea light, or another candle that properly makes flame.Tea lights are cheap as well, smell almost rancid, and the candles do not make enough heat to actually melt the wax. I had to use one of the candles I had made to get the wax to melt. Otherwise, you're scorching the bendy spoon (and possibly your fingers) in order to get any melting to occur. You get what you pay for. I love the seal, and the colors of the sealing wax are acceptable. The book-like case is wonderful for storage! However, be aware that the other vital parts of this set are not exactly up to snuff.

An Easy Set for Beginners!
Packaging: The product came in a very clean, undamaged package. The box was nicely tied in a bow and each piece of the set (excluding the wax sticks) were wrapped in plastic. The stamp was finely crafted without any flaws, except that the head was slightly unscrewed when I inspected the new product.Usage: The wax sticks took some time to cut with a knife, though I read later that an x-acto knife cuts through easily. The wax itself dripped smoothly onto the envelopes and the stamp was heavy enough to press down by itself. Concerning the final product, the seals on the envelopes, I saw no flaws. It was clean and secure both times I tried it (perhaps too much wax the second time).

If kings used wax seals, it's good enough for me!
I've always thought it was neat when I saw characters in movies using a wax seal on a letter, so as a kid I tried it myself....using crayons (as I'm sure some of you have, haha). Needless to say, it's not nearly the same thing. As an adult (by age only) and seeing Tywin Lannister (R.I.P.) on Game Of Thrones recently using a wax seal, that "sealed" (see what I did there?) the deal for me and I knew I had to have a kit like this.It looks just like the picture shows, and you can pick what stamp you want. I'll admit, I don't use the tea candles or the spoon that comes with the kit, I just use a small butane ligther to melt the wax and it works perfectly. I can't imagine fussing with the candles and spoon makes things any easier and that's the only reason I give this three stars--everything else in the kit is awesome, I think the candles just aren't necessary.I did a few practice stamps at first just to get an idea how much wax was needed and how long to leave the stamp sitting in the hot wax before removing it. I've seen other kits/comments mention a releasing agent to help prevent the stamp from sticking to the wax but I haven't had any problems with that. I leave my stamp in the wax until it pretty much completely cools and wiggle it ever so slightly side to side when I pull it away and I haven't had any problems with it not coming off cleanly. As far as how much use you get from one wax stick, I've done about 10 stampings with the red wax (the red is my favorite) and have about half a stick left.If you're thinking about this kit, I don't think you'll be dissapointed. If you're like me, you're now looking at fancy paper and pens to write some pretty cool letters.Want to really bring a smile to someone's face? Sit down, write a letter with a pen (no keyboard required), and put a wax seal on it. Instant coolness.

Makes your letters look great!
I use the stamp with an electric glue stick melting burner because the candles were a bit of a pain. However, the stamp looks great and made my thank you cards look awesome. Very cool look.2 things to be aware of:Mailing envelopes with a wax seal requires 70 cent postage. Even paying more for postage does not ensure that the post office will not destroy your seal. About 50% of mine were ruined. Not a fault of the product, but a reflection of the rough treatment by the post office.

Mostly cheap junk
Trying to use wax seals is an experiment in patience. Paraffin candles don't generate a lot of heat, but they do create a lot of carbon buildup on the bottom side of the spoon, which blocks efficient heat transfer. The wax melts easily enough, but the sticks are so thick that they actually take up more space than the melted wax, which means one has to melt and pour several times before there is enough wax on the envelope to actually use the seal. The spoon itself only has one pouring spout instead of two, which forces use of the right hand to put the melted wax onto the envelope. Heat transfer beyond the spoon's bowl is negligible. Also, once the spoon is used for one type of wax, the leftover buildup inside it causes a blending of the different types of wax sticks available. Multiple spoons would help in this regard, but this package is intended for use as a whole and only provides the one spoon. The stamp itself is well-made, but it's a shame there's no indentation or marking on the stamp's side to guide one in its use, so the stamping comes out right-side-up. I used a permanent, writes-on-anything pen to help with that.In summary, only purchase this product if you plan on immediately using up the entire package. I'd recommend getting a larger pouring spoon and larger and thicker candle to use in the melting process, to speed everything up, especially if one has a lot of envelopes to seal. The kit's container can be recycled as a fancy box to hold whatever small items can fit inside it.

Beautiful Cards.
I bought this for use on my Christmas cards this war and it looks stunning. The kit is beautifully packaged and very easy to use.The stamp head can be removed for use with another stamp which is handy and it made to a very high standard. The only downside is that I would use it in a ventilated space and the sticks do give off fumes but this is expected due to the use of rubberised wax.I would highly recommend this product.

A graceful rage against electronic messaging
I bought this as a gift for a friend who enjoys the pleasures of a bygone time, this was a gift that looked and felt quality, and was warmly appreciated.Perfect for those who still enjoy sending and receiving letters and cards in an electronic era. It also adds a touch of class to gifts too.
