Worked great in replacing the pump cup in a very old Coleman lantern. Worked great.

I have several older Coleman products that I have always used and enjoyed. I still do. Pump cups are leather and are therefore a wear item and need to be replaced when they become torn - which quite frankly, generally only happens when the old camp stove has sat for a number or years before being put back into service, and the pump cup was never oiled when it was last being used. The do dry rot if not oiled before being stored long term, and do become far less effective they are not oiled and/or CLEANED and oiled if used in sandy or dusty environments. If you have an old Coleman stove, lantern, stove/heater combination kit or anything else that uses the standard old fashioned simple pump, you already have all the pictures you need once your new Coleman pump cup kit arrives! Remove the old pump, and do what makes sense. If you can't figure it out, ask a 12 year old for help! :) They're real good at this kind of stuff if you just turn them loose and let them do it. Of course, camp stoves and other stuff like that CAN be dangerous, so yes, adult supervision is highly recommended, and can be entertaining, too. About the plastic thing - This pump kit does come with a replacement PLASTIC backing plate. This does not effect me, because my Coleman stuff is as old and in some cases OLDER I am (although STILL in far better shape), and therefore all have the metal backing plates the don't require replacement. By no means am I asking the plastic REPLACEMENT backer be eliminated from this pump REBUILD kit, because it IS a wear item - now that it IS plastic. I am asking that the practice of using plastic cup backing plates be halted in favor of providing customers buying Coleman products TODAY be ceased in favor of going back to doing it right. It's not affecting profit margins enough to justify tarnishing the Coleman name. Maybe this has already been done and I'm just unaware. If so - awesome. If not, please consider it, and perhaps offer a metal backing plate version of this kit for those wishing to upgrade their plastic item to a more skookum METAL piece that will not *cause* an additional vector for problems when we need to count on our gear to WORK.

Easy to install & well worth the money.

My 30+ year old stove still worked... mostly. I finally decided to do something about it and looked around for the new pump cup to help with the pressurizing issue. The various repair kits had the neoprene version which would probably work but had extra parts that were not quite right for this stove. Other online stores had just the cup for less that 3 dollars but had at least 5 dollars shipping - not exactly a compelling reason to purchase from there! I just stumbled on this leather cup. It's the same price as the neoprene with shipping so why not? This comes with the leather cup, backing plate, and locking clip. I decided to use all three pieces. Everything fit just fine. Getting the leather cup into place requires a little patience but wasn't hard. After a few drops of oil the pressure is just fine. Will I get 30 more years out of this stove? Who knows? But the stove works like new now!
