Gorilla Force | Ultra Strong Bike Tyre Levers

I don't usually leave reviews for things but I had to for these. I had a set of tyres, cheap in between tyres on my commuter bike, that I hadn't got round to changing until a puncture the other day. I have been cycling my whole life, I am now in my mid 50's and still ride and i know about bikes. I tried to remove these tyres with my park tool tyre levers, admittedly they are old levers, but both snapped, these tyres are the worst tyres ever to take off, even worse than continental tyres. I tried some other cheaper levers that just bent out of shape instantly, I won't use cheap metal levers as they do dent your rims so that was that! I looked on amazon, took a gamble on these and this morning the tyres came off first attempt, no problem, easy as pie! Really strong levers, highly recommended, campag veloce rims still intact.

Bought this set for a family member who always asks me to replace his inner tubes, as it looks similar to a set that I lost a little while back which were amazing(Pedro's tyre levers) To be honest these feel even more sturdy, they stack together for storage and slide well. I ended up keeping 2 and giving the other 2. Used on a road bike with 700c 25 tyres Holds the spokes very well and saves me having to replace his inner tubes. Just remember to always pull the tyre so all the slack goes towards the last bit that's always tough to slip into the rim initially, if you do this you shouldn't need to put much force on these levers anyway. Feels like these will last for years and years. Great buy.

Good string, do the job. Ideally would like them slightly longer, or with more grip, but a great alternative to my other sets (and far better than some).

Very sturdy

I had the usual plastic levers and they always seem to bend, and I'm nervous about using the metal levers for fear of trapping the tube which happens. I've used these roughly 10 times and they've provided an effective experience every time, on 700x25 road tyres and 29 maxxis mtb tyres.

I bought these at the same time that I purchased a set of Schwalbe Marathon Plus tyres which reviews point out are often a struggle to fit. One reviewer recommended a set of these tyre levers to facilitate what did indeed prove to be a bit of a battle. Both tyres and tyre levers do a great job. Puncture free cycling and a tough and ergonomically designed tyre lever which made a difficult job doable. Since “the battle of the Schwalb” I have noticed that the tyre levers no longer snap together for storage, so they’ve clearly been slightly bent out of shape, but they are as tough as old boots and anything else would’ve struggled to stay in one piece with the amount of pressure being put on them. Equally, they are made from a material that left no trace of damage on the wheels, and they slide beautifully thereby minimising the chance of pinching an inner tube. Well worth the money and recommended.

Some combinations of rim and bike tire come apart quite easily. You deflate the tube if not already deflated, push in the stem (unscrew the knurl on presta valves) to take away possible pressure from the reinforced tube around the stem, push in on the tire next to the rim on one side all the way around to move the bead off the ridge and into the center of the rim which is slightly deeper, then you use the resulting space to pop the bead over the rim near the valve stem (since the other side has more freedom to fully move into the center of the rim without obstruction). But some combinations of rim and tire are quite tight! Then you need leverage, preferably without pinching the tube and ruining it. Plastic levers with a little curl on the end to catch the tire bead do the trick. If they are thick, they weigh a tiny bit more, but they don't break and are easier to hold. When it's really tight, you may need to place one, hooking the other end around a spoke, then add a second or even a third tire lever. These levers were well-priced and do the trick. They did not exactly press together for storage as a group when not in use like the park tool version, if that matters to you. There was enough variance that sometimes they popped back apart after being stacked together, at least in the ones I received. I have various ones of these, but I like to take several in each bike bag in case I need to remove a tire on a ride. These work well enough to be my first choice at home in the shop as well.
