Buying it several times already. My husband says it stinks awful, but when I tell him it is Valerian it stops being so awful. To me, the smell reminds me of my great grandmother's house when I was very very little. She lived in Ukraine and lived thru two world wars and two holodomors into very very old age. Maybe the Valerian kept her body and mind functioning thru the unimaginable stresses? I take 1/2 tsp of this powder with water every night before sleep. Sometimes I add some Lemon Balm powdered leaf. Also any time I get the rapid heart beat "thing". Works every time. Heartbeat goes back to normal as soon as i get into horizontal position and take a deep breath.

Yes it smells, yes it's safe for cats. That said it does have a.... taste to it. A little goes a long way with valerian root. It does have a sedative effect, great for insomniacs.

I’ve been taking Valerian root powder for 6months now. I usually buy it from the apothecary down the street from my house and everything that is sold there is high quality and fresh. I wanted to try to save some money so I decided to go bulk. I’m so disappointed. This Valerian root powder taste like perfume. Also, it has a sweet taste??? I’m unable to understand how this product has 4 out of 5 stars. Today I tried to return it as it’s only been 7days. However, apparently I have to eat it. A huge waste of money. I tried to use it for 3 days and I just couldn’t do it anymore, it’s nasty. Buyer beware!!!!!
