One of the Greatest Lego Concepts Ever!!
First off, it's Lego, so you know it's going to be fun to play. But this takes it to a whole new level! This has an immense free-roam city made of Lego's and has an excellent story line that makes for a fun game to play. Even if you're new to the Lego video games, it's very simple to play, and the missions don't take hours to complete or make it difficult to figure out what you're supposed to do. The characters are pretty funny, and taking down bad guys is a lot fun. Basically, for everything that you can do, it's well worth the price, graphics are good, even in 3D, and is simple enough anyone can play it, but intense enough that hard core gamers will still get a lot of enjoyment from playing it!!

Fun and funny game - Really Easy
I have spent over two hours completing missions in this game. The game is pretty easy and straightforward. It pretty much tells you what and when to do everything. Great game for a kid.The narrative is funny also. Like when the robber steals your pants or the pig drives away in a tractor. Not to mention the first mission on the police force is to get donuts lol.I would totally recommend at least renting the game. Though it is pretty long. You might be better off just buying the game and then selling it when you are done. I am very happy I picked up this game and still dont understand why some of the "critics" gave the game like 5 out of 10 stars... Who cares I guess.Edit:Just finished the game. Found all the collectibles and completed all of the missions. Took a little over 25 hours (which is longer than New super Mario 2 took). I saw another reviewer said he spent over 100 hours. He must like just wondering around doing nothing? I dunno.Things are, on the whole, very easy to find. There were a few things that I had to scratch my head for a little while before I figured it out. Overall, worth the $8 or so I will have lost buying new and then reselling. Onto the next one.

Fun, clean, entertaining, complicated (a good thing)
I bought this for my 14 year old. I assume he likes it since he's asking me if he can play it pretty much every second of the day! I am enjoying the comments he makes, such as "hey, I can steal cars! Well not STEAL them, but I can just order people out of their car and take off in it". I think he is enjoying being IN CHARGE in that way, since he's a middle child and rarely gets to be in charge of anyone! Also, I appreciate games that are good clean fun, without any of the violent, or scary stuff. This game fits that bill. I wish it had one more "game save" as it only comes with 2, and I have 3 sons. So either one of them has to wait until someone completes the entire game, or we have to buy another copy.

Great substitute for Wii U Version
I bought this for my son's 7th birthday. He loves the Lego games and the Lego City building blocks. He fell in love with the Wii U Demo at the store and desperately wanted the Lego City game for that. We have a Wii and I didn't want to basically repurchase what I already have for one game since he didn't seem interested in the others. We also already have the 3DS - so i was thrilled to get this game and make him happy for hundreds less than what it would have cost me to buy the Wii U and the Wii U game.As far as the game itself, it is easy enough for a 7 year old to get through it and it has its challenges to make it not too easy. I have played the game and it is pretty entertaining.

Simple but fun game that kids should enjoy
I found this to be a fun open world 3DS game with lots of things to do and to unlock. I normally don't play LEGO video games, but this one really appealed to me because it gives the player a large city to explore, allowing you to play missions or just do whatever with the abilities you have unlocked. There are a lot of cars you can drive (including a UFO that hovers above the road), disguises for your character, and a story mode that uses humor to good effect. I don't own a WiiU and therefore haven't played that version, but I've read that the WiiU game is even better than this one, which should make it 5 stars instead of just 3.I am giving this game only 3 stars because the missions are filled with a lot of the same repetitive gameplay actions. Many abilities require the player to simply find a specific object to interact with and then tap the A button until the task is completed. Also, combat in the game is rather repetitive and uninteresting after only a few battles. If the game had tried to enrich the gameplay more, I'm sure I would have given this game a full 5 stars. So, if you are happy to simply have a game that's pretty relaxing and has a big city to wander around on your 3DS, I recommend this title. Load times are annoying (about 40 seconds each time you enter the load screen) but you can avoid this somewhat by simply staying in the city and exploring your current area instead of moving back and forth a lot among each section.

Impressive open-world LEGO GTA light for kids
LEGO City Undercover is supposed to be a prequel to the WiiU release, but it feels a bit more like a rehash of environments and scenarios from its big brother. Outside of this complaint, this game is GREAT for kids or even adults looking for an open-world game for 3DS that runs well, provides lots to unlock and an adventure of above average length.Buy if if you like LEGOs, want a great adventure game for 3DS or want more of the WiiU release.
