Great Kukri knife machete, well worth the money.
Wanted a Cold Steel kukri machete for awhile, after I already got the CS Magnum Kukri a few years ago, but wanted a shorter version. This one filled the bill: sharp, great handling, and cheap when I bought it for $17.84. I didn't hesitate, snapped it up. You shouldn't either, buy one! UPDATE: So, I have had this a few months, and wanted to give additional perspective. Great balance in the hand, extremely fast and agile. Much smoother to use than my original CS Magnum Kukri, not so heavy or fatiguing, and actually cut brush and foliage better in my hands. The guard against hand creep is a great safety feature, first started with the CS Royal Kukri machete. Overall, it is nice and sturdy, not too much flex at all. It chops it up with the best of them. I got this thing at an insane price on Amazon for less than $18, an absolute bargain! It comes sharp, but I am a sharpening *demon and hit it up again. Now, it is deadly sharp, so bring on those zombies! 2nd UPDATE: I love this Kukri more and more, use it for home defense and it is deadly for that purpose. It is sharp as hell, and even after yard chores around the house, keeps its edge. I let my yard man use it to trim back bushes, and he didn't want to give it back, and then wanted to know where could get one. Just as I predicted, it would go up in price, it is now almost $30 plus shipping, while I got it for less than $18.00 plus free shipping. For those few complaining about the grip or edge, well it is your job to maintain it, so sharpen it and put grip tape, leather wrap, or ranger bands on it. It is a devastating chopper for bushing weed and saplings, and a superb home defense weapon, and again I just love mine.

A solid tool
I bought a house and the back yard was in bad shape. This tool made all the hard work a real pleasure. I live in Louisiana and I have a lot of bamboos near my back fence. Hacking bamboos with Cold Steel Kukri is one of the most fun things I have done. The shape of the blade is incredible in transmitting the force of the cut exactly where you want it, and using this tool efficiently just feels so natural. The first time I worked with it I kept destroying bamboos and their roots for over an hour and a half, my hands got blisters (the handle is great but the skin needs to harden in order to get used of this plastic) but I just kept going because it was just great fun cutting down things. As shown in the photo I covered the handle with leather straps, and I may also use a leather glove which is great if your work is mixed wood work with digging (uprooting bamboos etc). The inner most point of the curve of the blade works fantastic for shaping wood as shown in the photo. Minor dings on the blade from hitting small stones in the soil when hitting bamboos near their root. No impact whatsoever, not even in the sharpness of the blade by working long hours with hard wood. A solid tool that is a real pleasure to work with, and the price is just incredible. I am getting a second one soon.

Chopped down a tree with it easily, as fast as an axe
Holds up to abuse well. Chopped down a tree with it easily, as fast as an axe, faster than a large fixed blade. For the money is a great blade, but I do have a few minor complaints 1. The blade has to grind to it. It's essentially flat the entire way up from the bevel. But the bevel is so gradual it works great for whatever you need from it, it's a machete thing. 2. I'd recommend using gloves with it, the handle will be rough on your hands after periods of extensive chopping, I got blister the first time I used this knife for several hours. But it could easily be avoided with care 3. It came rather dull, much more dull than I had expected, I sharpened it myself with a very basic sharpening system and it held that edge through a tree and more It's made in south Africa. Maybe the cold steel production group there doesn't quality control as well, or maybe cold steel just doesn't ship machetes as sharp as their folders, but it wasn't a big deal to me. This is probably the best kukri you could get for this price if you want to get some use and abuse out of it. If you somehow managed to break it, less than twenty bucks isn't anything to cry about, but from my heavy chopping and mild prying it hasn't ever given me reason to think it would fail when I needed it not to. Great product, would buy again.

Cold Steel
From their South African production, this is a no-nonsense basic kukri machete/knife (a bit short for a traditional machete/a bit long for even a large knife). Came very sharp but rough (almost serrated from the large grit of the belt they put the edge on with). Fine for hacking down thick brush and small trees. It only took me about a half hour to smooth it out with a diamond stone (as you are really smoothing rather than sharpening). The steel is thick like a knife, so there is no traditional machete wobble and the added weight is why the length is shorter. If functions somewhat like a machete/hatchet hybrid and is best served in work where you would otherwise want to carry both of those tools. Good buy at a good price.

A great tool
So an uncle since passed bought me one of these 25+ years ago, it has cut through tons of brush and fire wood still use it but I feel it might be time to conserve it...then I got this bad boy delivered, worth twice what it cost, durable black finish looks just like the old one did, solid scabbard. It comes with a very durable grind angle and is a RAZOR blade. These end heavy blade shapes don't deflect (much) when they cut. Great to keep in the truck For fire wood and brush cutting tasks. I got through a 6" log in a second...cutting accurately, sending huge chips in the air....I will stop gushing...worth it.

Scout machete/ chopper, crafting knife, backwoods bandsaw ( batoning blade supreme )....
Held off on this for years as we own a twenty dollar hand forged kukri that is the business. At seventeen bucks I broke down. My 1.3 acre back lot is rife with raspberry, green briar, and wild roses. This size is perfect for getting me from here to there. Without becoming embroiled. Also clearing workspace for chainsaw and axe work. Chops hard wood well, seasoned standing dead or green. Wonderful carver in my hand (5'10.5" _ xl glove size, average grip/ hand arm strength ) I make tomahawk handles with mine. Also dug up a sassafrass root for tea. Sheath is functional poo imho. This baby needs kydex, I won't pay for one, looks like a heat gun and rivet press in my future.... Sharp edge shaved after being lightly honed with spyderco fine ceramic stone fredhand, also comes back quick. A young friend liked mine so well we bought him one for helping around the place, loves it. Safety is a must, a blade this versatile will mess you up in myriad fashion as well. Sheath is weak but this value is still nine out of five stars. Would not be so quick to promote, but we have well over a decade with cold steel machetes. Old 1900s person who does NOT believe in batoning unless you have a Cold Steel Machete knife..... Then by all means.. My opinion only... Ymmv.. Grip is nice, we like Wilson pro overwrap on ours. Zombie green makes it easy to spot on the ground. Solid purchase.

Tough Love
The blade has a very industrial/rough finish, the sharpened edge is a bit burred, and the handle is a bit skinny. HOWEVER, the rough finish doesn't detract from its functionality..it makes it seem more like an actual tool rather than a show piece. The edge comes fairly sharp and can be easily sharpened, the sheath is great, and nothing comes perfect out of the box anyway...nor would you want it to. Half the fun is in making it yours. So, even though I give it 3 objective stars, it's hard not to be absolutely in love with my first kukri.

This is really a great blade here
This is really a great blade here. Very nice feel and weight, heavy where it needs to be and nowhere else. I did some work on a tree limb a while back, and kept going back to this over my hatchet. Only two real complaints: the sheath and the guard. The sheath can only hang practically on the right side with the loop provided, and it is a bit of a pain to draw as the sheath conforms to the blade. The guard is more of a literal pain, as it is metal and unforgiving on the hand. It's preferable to not having one at all, but I would have preferred rubber around it to save my fingers a little. Otherwise a very nice work/survival blade. Update 2017 I live in Florida and after we got hammered by hurricane Irma, this thing was a workhorse and a half. Went checking out the damage and walked by my cousin's house who had a downed tree, chopped that thing up in 15 minutes and was on my way. A little sharpening and it was good as the day I bought it.
