Are these sheets really cotton or microfiber?

They are NOT 1800 thread count which pertains to PURE COTTON SHEETS ONLY. The “1800” is nothing more than a number they chose which essentially means nothing!!! These sheets are made from Polyester/Microfiber so: BUYER BEWARE!!!!

what's the difference between microfiber and cotton thread count sheets?

Microfiber is is finely strung polyester threading. You can thread 2-3 times as much per square inch than cotton. That’s why you see some microfiber bed sheets having 1000-1800 thread count. But you can’t compare that with cotton thread count. Both have different meanings, it’s not a standard measurement anymore. Microfiber feels very soft and the sheets are light. And that’s were the good stops. Since there made essentially of plastic threads (smooth threads with little defects or variations in their run lengths) and threaded tightly per square inch, air and moisture cannot easily pass through them. Cotton, which has variations and defects throughout their threads, will pass through heat and moisture more easily. But cannot be packed tightly as microfiber. So thread count for microfiber sheets has a different meaning then cotton sheets. In fact, it’s almost pointless for microfiber sheets to mention the thread count. I believe it’s deceptive if they do. Anyway, microfiber feels soft and smooth. But they also retain heat more and moisture. They are thinner and lighter, but being that way makes them fragile at the seams. Use very low heat in the dryer, microfiber breaks down with high heat. Overall, if you want a good set of sheets for year round and that last long, make an almost guaranteed investment and buy some good quality cotton sheets.

What is the thread count. Why the seemingly deceptive product name?

polyester or microfiber is measured very differently then cotton fiber because it is too thin. microfiber is measured by weight in GSM or grams per square meter. this is not usually mentioned in poly sheets but i've been doing my homework. the common range in poly sheets is 95 which is very thin and see thru if you hold it up to light (that's my thickness test) up to 120 for better quality thick not see thru. amazons pinzon is 120 i think. after 120 you get flannel and then towels but i dont know gsm. many sellers i've contacted dont even know these numbers.You cannot compare cotton weave numbers (or thread count) with poly weights. but consumers want this info on their sheet buying so sellers attempt to throw out a high number which does not mean a thing. its a bad comparison .

These are microfiber, not cotton, so they are not measured in thread count. Microfiber is measured in GSM (Grams per Square Meter.) Most microfiber fabrics are between 200-350 GSM. The higher the number, the thicker and softer the fabric. I prefer microfiber sheets, as they are lightweight, cooler, and easier to wash than cotton. That said, because they are so thin, they may not last as long. Hope that helps clear things up!

It used to be that you could count on a quick order from Amazon and get pretty much what you paid for. Over the years, like everything in American consumerism, it's a challenge now, and time consuming to read fine print and discern what you're really buying. However, this is the world we live in now, everything from your phone bill to most everything you buy must be scrutinized to make sure you're not getting ripped. So, I log on, and buy some highly rated Egyptian Quality sheets.. not cotton mind you, in which Egyptian is usually attached to, but willfully misleading wording. And indeed you will see most reviewers state they were also fooled. These were also supposed to be striped, but they are not. They are reasonable quality polyester sheets. Far cheaper to produce than true luxury cotton, and of course I should have known that. But I'm weary of this practice of deception, I'm weary of Amazon not vetting products for deceptive descriptions, and I"m weary of just settling for things that I pay for that aren't as they were represented. Sure, you can make the argument I should have been more careful and less hasty.. and I agree, but wouldn't it be nice to just get what you think you're buying for a change? So, I will be returning these as they are not what I wanted or thought I was buying. I'm doing this now as habit. If I receive a product from Amazon, or any other retailer that has been deceptive, and purposefully misleading, I'm returning it. I will get my money back, and they may start to feel the pinch of consumers being diligent. More likely they won't. This company probably sells enough volume that the few that are returned don't mean much of a hit. So be it.. I'm weary of being deceived.

I have ordered several sets because they are better than any other sheets I have ever had. I only buy more because they come in so many beautiful luxurious colors. I have a California King and sometimes find that the fitted sheet doesnt stay or they move around a lot. These fit perfectly and I never struggle to get them on or keep them on. They are the perfect weight, they are soft and easy to clean. I even worried that my cats or the dog would rip them with their claws when playing or jumping up on the bed but somehow these sheets are bullet proof...well paw proof ! I will not buy any others for me or as gifts.
