Hummingbirds: A Life-size Guide to Every Species

Excellent book that shows the then known 348 species of hummingbirds at life size. Yes, there are now 370+ species recognized by most authorities. Still, you'll be able to get a good sense of the vast majority of hummingbirds (even if some have been split or had name changes) from this book. Very thoughtfully put together with range maps and descriptions, if they came out with an up-to-date edition I'd buy it instantly.

The images are stunning. The information was interesting; however, we purchased the book to help us identify the birds that visit our feeder. There are only two pages that I can find that include hummingbirds from our area of the U.S. The book identifies birds from mainly South America. Stunning pics.

My wife adores hummingbirds. She carefully sets up feeders every year and she faithfully ensures that they are filled with fresh nectar made from organic sugar. The point is that this book was the perfect gift for her. The photography in this book is outstanding. The photos are crystal clear and deeply saturated. Every species is represented. The language is clear and easy to understand. All aspects of hummingbird life are touched on in great detail. Even if you have only a passing interest in hummingbirds, I think this vibrant book will delight you. My wife is enthralled by it. For those who love hummingbirds (young or old), this comprehensive book will not disappoint. This is one book that I can wholeheartedly recommend!

Not 100% what I expected, but a beautifully done book nonetheless. I am not convinced of the accuracy of the title, however. I know for certain that there are at least fifteen species in the United States, but this book does not seem to reflect that. Most of the species in this book are in South America, which is accurate. I was also hoping for photos of both males and females of each species, along with at least descriptions of any variations. I have not had a chance to spend a lot of time with this book yet, but I have ordered a second copy as a gift for my mom.

A beautiful book with life size images of most known hummingbird species. It has helpful information on the species and migration patterns. Most of the 338 known species are located in South or Central Americas, so this opens the door for a wider understanding of hummingbirds. I am withholding a star, though, because the tittle infers a life size image for every specie. While the book provides for most species, there is a section in the back where a large number are listed, but without photos.

This book is perfect for hummingbird enthusiasts. It has the name of each species along with an illustration, information where they live and whether or not they are endangered or not.

Cover all species and the sites where they can be found!!! The photographs are not always of good quality, but the information is always very interesting.
