Simple and stupid proof
NO ONE can screw up the programming on this - better to set your house at one temp point then the upa nd down stuff - and our digital was acting weird making our AC work harder. This is a SOLID product (the technician who suggested it said it's one of the better brands in the AC business) We're happy with it - its working great and easy to hook up/install. Thanks

Seems fine
I installed these at my rent house a few days ago and they've been working fine. I have single stage gas heat and air conditioning and bought two of these thermostats. The landlord limit settings are easily adjusted with the included instructions. Snap a picture of that portion of the instructions for your records because Braeburn does not publish them online. Other than that it's just a very basic thermostat that seems to do the job.I was replacing purely analog thermostats (i.e. mechanical needles, levers and a mercury switch) so I actually had to connect the common wire on the ac unit's transformer before the thermostats got 24 volts ac to power on this electronic thermostat (Or any other electronic thermostat for that matter). You can find more info on that from numerous sources online. I could have just run them with batteries but I really didn't want to have another maintenance item to deal with. It was about a 15 min job per thermostat including connecting the previously unused "common" wire.Re Gary Marshall's "DO NOT BUY" review:I didn't use mine with heat pumps but there is a switch on the back for heat pump mode that may not have been set correctly for his application. It opens up some other menu options to control when the heat pump goes from normal heat to emergency/aux heat.

Great thermostat
Overall this is a great thermostat. I own a multi family property where heat is provided and there has been much waste. The instructions are simple unless you have a oil fired hydronic boiler, 2 wire 24v system. Just remember the connections are color coordinated! It is easy to set the upper limits and with a little glue or solder it could be made permanent. Also customer service is excellent!

Low Cost, but effective
Our old thermostat failed so we had an HVAC service technician come out. He quoted $179.00 to replace it with a Braeburn 1000 NC. I looked it up on Amazon and showed him the photo and asked if this was the same product. He said yes, so I asked why he wanted $150.00 more for the same thing. He said his company sets the price and the cost of installation is $79.00. I bought the one on Amazon and connected the 4 wires in 5 minutes. You can do it yourself easy.

Not good
We usde this in our rental property and have had nothing but issues. The limit for our ac is 72. Once that limit is hit, the air shuts off, and doesn't kick back on unless the air is turned off and back on again. The house would heat up to over 78 and not come back on- the inclement for turning back on was set to .5 of a degree. We've had an ac person check out the ac unit, and replace the pump we thought was causing the issue.. we finally replaced this thermostat and the problem was solved.

always liked it but lately something is not right
I've been having this thermostat for at least 8 yrs, always liked it but lately something is not right.when switching from heat to cool, it seems to get stuck.cold air comes on but it still says heat.making a clicking sound. Tried resetting.i had to set temp to 65. If I set to 72 it wouldn't turn off. Does anyone know if the heat cool button sometimes gives out, & needs to discard?

Thermost Solves Stress Causing Problems
We own a small inn, profit margins are very small so we look for anyway to save a few pennies. One of our biggest costs (after taxes and insurance) is electricity. While guests most likely do not do this at home, many come in and turn the thermostat down to 65 degrees or lower. With outside temperatures in the upper 90s during the day, this puts a large stress on our A/C systems and on our profits. When guests check-in we mention that the A/C may shut off if the thermostat is set too low as the compressor will shut off for an hour or two to thaw out. For some reason guests do not listen and then when the A/C shuts off, we get a call that the A/C is broken. We again have to explain this is a safety feature on the A/C equipment and when it thaws out, it will reset. This thermostat is wonderful. It allows us to set min and max temperatures and setting a cooling min. temperature of 70 degrees has stopped the A/C units from freezing up, shutting off and the calls from guests that the A/C is broken. I wish we had found these thermostats years ago.
