Top Gun [DVD & Digital Copy Included] [3D Blu-ray]

This is the restored, remastered,..... of the 1986 movie so the color is not vibrant as the modern movies but they did really good converting it to 3D and re-released it on IMAX in 2013. The 3D effect was good and of course, this movie is well known for the soundtrack, the price is cheap so it's totally worth it to add to your collection!

Top Gun was already a great movie, but the remaster in Blu-Ray 3D is FANTASTIC! All the dogfight and flying scenes look absolutely incredible on my home theater. I have a 3D compatible projector and 100 inch screen, so for me, this was like seeing it in a theater for the first time, something I never got to do since I was only 7 when it was first released. Having the audio now in surround sound is just icing on the cake. I had the sound turned way up loud, and the opening scene had me covered in goosebumps! Again, this was already a great classic action movie from the 1980's, but it truly is a whole new and upgraded experience on 3D blu ray. I have seen this movie over a dozen times through the years, but this was definitely a much improved experience. I give this my highest recommendation for all you fellow 3D blu ray library enthusiasts out there, it is easily one of the best 3D blu rays out there, if not the best. Add this one to your library NOW!

Bought this for my husband for Christmas and he was really happy. Also got him Top Gun, Maverick. Both DVD'S quality was very good. He watched them within a day after Christmas.

Top Gun is still a great move even though it was produced in the 80’s. It might seem like a dated move, however the fighter combat Tactics have not changed. The aerial visuals Action in the film is among the best capture to date. The look and feel of the then and still high performance F-14, with its great photogenic qualities; look better than Tom Cruise. Aside from the action in this film, the friendship, and love story are not bad for a movie of this type. The talent of the actors helps to bring this part of the move to light. It’s a great movie and probably will become a classic in the mean time it’s a great film to watch over and over. Now for the technical aspect of the movie, First of just running it through a Blu-ray player and running it through a true home theater do make some differences as well as running it trough different brands of Blu-Ray players Starting with sound if you just pop it into a Blu-ray player and us the TV speaks the sound is all right. Ran it through Yamaha home theater and the sound improved. I’m sure it is true for other brands as well. The standard edition DVD and even a VHS copy lets loose with crushing bass that can be felt as much as heard through an older 5.1 w/subwoofer system. If you jack the sound all the way up you can feel the general sounds of an F-14 carrier take off and flight. The sound technicians could have done a better job for this release. The problems start coming up when you go to Blu-ray 3D, some scenes are grainy especially the opening scene on the carrier flight deck as well as low light sequences, this is regardless of Flat screens TV used. The most graininess was on my Seki TV, which is my cheapest flat screen in the house. Final thoughts if you have the DVD the 3D Blu-ray is not worth getting!

Overall a good value for a repack of stuff we already have and for new buyers or guys that missed out on the extras and digital copy this is your 2nd chance. I only had the bluray version not the other versions or bluray/dvd combo, bluray digital etc, so it was a ez decision for me to wait for this version. Until they come out with a proper 4k or if there is a 4k version of Top Gun this is the only bluray version am getting till then. any kid that grew up in the 80's should definitely pick this up or go to vudu to pick up MotherGoose.... The video and sound quality is good for a 80's movie and I don't expect dolby atmos or quality like todays films, so I think for a bluray movie release its okay. On my 7.1 setup with soundbar, sub woofer, 2 rear speakers, 2 side speakers, the sound is really great especially on planes scenes or Maverick taking down the fools.hehehehe If your a fan and feel the need to get the best bluray set this version is the best until the 4k version comes. You get a special case, ultraviolet digital copy, and of course the bluray/dvd versions. Also pretty decent or cheap price tag too I only paid 12$ at bestbuy and found a perfect copy with no damage or broken case. Now I see Amazon is selling it for same or cheaper so dont wait too long to get this baby.

Excellent movie

You haven't seen top gun until you've seen it in 3D makes you feel like you're writing a cockpit of the jet the clarity and the visuals effect of 3D in this movie is fantastic. It's not Earth shaking 3D, it just enhances the movie exponentially. I've had this movie since it first came out and I'm sorry I didn't get it in 3D sooner. The movie came quickly and in brand new condition.
