The Revised Standard Version Catholic Bible

This beautiful little treasure arrived several days early! The publisher packaged it in its own protective cardboard box, which kept it safe during shipping. This is a very nice compact Bible for the price. It fits great into a purse, bag, backpack, etc. The gold-toned zippered case is great, and the gold-toned Miraculous Medal zipper-pull is the perfect touch. It's the perfect "Grab-and-Go" Bible! A priest recently recommended the RSV translation to me. This Bible contains the complete RSV Catholic Bible (Oxford Press), with a brief introduction, pages for family history entries, a 14-page appendix, and three pages of common Catholic prayers and devotions. The pages are edged with gold. The vinyl case is sewn and well-made, soft and matte with a faux leather grain that is comfortable in the hand, not rubbery, shiny, or sticky. The pages are thin, but not overly so, but be careful if you decide to highlight or underline. The print is small, but that's to be expected with a compact Bible. My only wish is that the publisher had also printed "Holy Bible" on the front of the case, because it only appears on the spine. I am very pleased and excited to have this highly portable and high quality compact Bible. It would make a thoughtful gift, too!

If you are looking for a travel catholic Bible this is a must have. Contains the 73 book catholic cannon. The size is perfect. Fits snug in a pant pocket. Fits well in a jacket pocket. Just wish I could find this in real leather.

Stunningly beautiful little bible. So glad i bought this for myself. Initially I intended for it to be a bible I could commute with because it’s so compact and lightweight. However I might make this my night bible as well. Reason being because it is so light weight and comfortable to hold in one hand which I can’t say about any of my other bibles that are regular book size. Also the quaint beauty of it inspires me so much that i don’t know if i will even mark up or highlight it. The only downside is the text is somewhat small but honestly it is still very readable and not that big of a problem. It’s a very good trade off for it’s compactness. Think i’m going to buy a second one as a backup in case i wear this one out or lose it. Would hate for it to be discontinued and not have one (that’s how much i love it). Would also be a perfect gift for any catholic or individual leaning towards God. Update 2 months later : be cautious that the gilted gold words are only printed on and after too much contact/rubbing they will fade. In my case i spilled something on the back bind and tried to rub off the smudge with a towel.. not a good idea as the words started to fade. Probably a good idea to avoid touching them much less rubbing them. I took the precaution of buying a fine tip gold pen and re-etched over the words to make sure they never fade. Might be a little much but just a avoud rubbing on words and it should be fine.

After converting to Catholicism several years ago I've had a lot of difficulty finding high-quality Catholic editions of the Bible. Many, quite honestly, seem to have low quality bonded leather, no sewn binding, strange art from the 70s, or other undesirable qualities. I also have had trouble finding a thinline/portable Bible. I have subsequently found a few I like but I still keep coming back tot his one as a favorite. I have enjoyed it so much it is more than simply a portable bible for me. The Bible is small (about 6 x 5 inches and around an inch thick) and, as with any small bible, the font is fairly small. But to almost the last page it lays flat when you open it. I have many larger bibles with sewn bindings that don't even do this as well. The pages are fairly thin and some ghosting is present. This does not bother me as much but I know it could be an issue for some. I love the cloth over board cover. The cloth is soft to the touch and so far seems to hold up well (I did make a simple cardboard slip case for putting this in a bag). I imagine this hard cover is also the main reason the bible las flat so easily. Even with the small size the bible includes a copy of Dei Verbum at the beginning, three pages of some common prayers and devotions at the end, a few brief explanatory notes in an appendix, and a list of changes made to the Catholic Edition of the RSV New Testament. A typical page also includes one or two notes. The only thing I miss in this bible is cross references, but given the size I understand this would not really be practical and is an acceptable trade off.

Excellent pocket/travel/personal bible!! I love its compact size without being too small as to make the reading/praying experience difficult or challenging. I appreciate the zipper to completely seal off and protect the pages of the Bible. I like the miraculous medal of Mary as the zipper handle. The issue that I have is with the binding I guess. The first section of the Bible seems to be struggling to stay together with the rest. It appears that with use and over time the first section(s) will come apart. Please advise for how to prevent this from happening and if there are any solutions to this. A suggestions for improvement would be to make the leather covering with the zipper maybe 1-2mm larger all around so the pages aren’t caught on them with opening or closing.

Very nice cover, print is a little small but thats to be expected since it is compact. Love the miraculous medal on the zipper.

Of course God's word is amazing in whatever form, but his version is a good size to take with you places easily. Nice for adults, college age, teenagers, or even younger ones.

Perfect every day carry Bible. I take it absolutely everywhere and it easily disappears into a jacket pocket if needed without interrupting movement or anything. So happy to take the scriptures everywhere. Praise be to God.

I have several Bibles and I know how not-portable Catholic Bibles usually are. I needed a small Bible that I can bring everywhere I go. At first I was hesitating to buy this Bible because of the zipper. But now that I have it in my hands, the zipper is actually smooth and doesn’t make that annoying sound like the sound I heard from my other Bible that also has a zipper (the zipper is not silent! It does make sound but not “the” annoying sound). I know it doesn’t sound like a big deal, but for me it does! Because I don’t want to cringe every time I use the zipper. The font size is small but it’s readable. I’m very happy with this compact Bible! Especially because it’s RSV-CE. I recommend this Bible for travellers. This Bible has: - Dogmatic Constitution - List of measures and weights in the Bible - Useful footnotes - Appendixes in the back of Old and New Testaments - Prayers and devotions This Bible doesn’t have: - Maps - Bookmark ribbons (hence I’ve made my own) I’ve made my own ribbons: pink for Old Testament, and blue for New Testament. Era da un sacco che cercavo una Bibbia in inglese come la CEI 74 e finalmente ho trovato questa! Mi è arrivata prima del previsto nonostante fosse spedita dall’America (ci ha messo 5 giorni). Arrivata perfettamente intatta e nuova. È piccola, le pagine sono molto sottili e quindi un po’ delicate però ci sta. È piccola ma non troppo. In generale sono moooolto contenta!!

It changed my Life

Pages are very thin and I am unreasonably nervous about the zip breaking. The nature of the design means it is hard to flick through pages and keen open without fear of breaking the spine. I am happy with my purchase though, I use it to go on trips and have the word of God with me

Received the bible in very good condition . Compact and very nice. Fonts are small but very readable .
