Q: can this device be used as a NVR for the cameras?

Yes -> it has a 1Terabyte drive that can be user upgraded to 5T.

Q: How do i upgrade my gen 2 nvr 1tb to 5tb?

There is a slide lock underneath. Open it and insert a 5TB drive. It will auto configure when you turn it on.

Q: Do you need to setup port forwarding on the router to access remotely or does it work like a P2P connection?

No ports need to be set up in the router/firewall. The Cloud Keys phone-home and initiate the connection. It works exactly the same as the UniFi software installed on a Windows host, the Cloud Key just eliminates that need for the PC running it. (The plus additionally provides 1TB of NVR service for UBNT cameras and is very similar to UniFi Video software running on a server.)

Get a cloud key!

Stop hosting your network software on a dedicated machine, get a cloud key and you'll be happy with your investment.It is my own fault really, I've been hosting my software on a standard workstation that has no battery backup and wasn't using a server grade operating system so everytime the power goes out I get locked out lol.The cloud key has a small battery to power down after power loss and can be accessed from anywhere on any device in your network instead of being forced to use just one machine and if it has never powered down.It does have the option to install additional software which includes unifi protect preinstalled but isnt needed if you dont have the cameras that cost an arm and a leg.Uses standard 2.5" hard disk, can install whatever you want in that bay when it comes to storage for the optional cctv software.Overall, the device makes the unifi equipment more user friendly for the average Joe like myself and I encourage you to get one for your unifi network because it just makes your life easier!

Simplifie la gestion de l'écosysteme Ubiquiti

Lacé du soft unify (sur docker) pour la gestion de mon reseau je me suis décidé à investir dans le cloud key. Malgré un prix élevé le résultat est à la hauteur : aucune difficulté pour se connecter et configurer le matériel en local ou remote.L'option d'alimentation POE est un plus
