Great value, especially for an SSD specific to an old (2012) MacBook Air, one who's SSD is model/year specific, with a limited market. The major brand SSD for this configuration costs $180, bare drive. The major drive dealer touts no drivers needed. This could be a MacOS specific check for genuine hardware, it wouldn't be the first time. I say that because MacOS doesn't support a 2012 MacBook Air anymore so I bought this 1TB SSD for a linux installation. works PERFECTLY. BTW, didn't check for the existence of an older version of MacOS installation as they say, just flattened it for a fresh Ubuntu installation. Ease of install was impressive for an Apple product, albeit an older, more DIY friendly Apple product. included tools were a critical element of the "ease of installation" judgement.

Macbook Air feels brand new; screwdrivers conveniently included with drive
Blown away by how different my old laptop feels. My mid-2012 Macbook Air feels like a brand new machine after replacing my failing Apple SSD with this one. Honestly shocked. It took LESS THAN 10 minutes to BOTH replace the drive and reinstall OS X on this new SSD. Holy moly. I was considering just throwing out the old laptop thinking that a 2012 machine was at the end of its functional like. So glad I decided to spend a very fair $55 on getting a new SSD just to see if the device was still salvageable. It's was more than salvageable. With this Feather drive, its a well-functioning extremely portable machine again. Extremely pleased with the purchase. ***Note: the special Apple pentalobe screw drivers are included with the drive. I also bought a set of Apple screwdrivers separately thinking that I'd need them to replace the drive. But Feather includes all necessary screwdrivers in the box.

Computer life saving product!
With my 2012 MacBook Air hard drive not working any longer, thought the computer was dead. Read other people's reviews and thought for the cost, it was worth the risk. Could not have been more thrilled with the outcome as it took me longer to take out all the screws then it did to install the hard drive. The product even came with the screw drivers! The computer works again and I don't have to spend another $1000 for a computer! Great product, would definitely purchase again! Thanks

Surprisingly easy, Great product.
2012 MacBook finally crashed. Was ready to trash laptop. I knew if I took to a shop it would be expensive for both Apple hard drive and labor. Decided to try this product. 10 minutes to install, Unfortunately had to spend 5 hours downloading and upgrading MacOS to more recent software in order to run specific business apps. Apple is always a pain. But for the price, gave me an extra laptop that now works as well as the original with more memory.

So much more storage for a great price.
Very easy to install. My 2012 MacBook Air had only 64 GB of SSD in it. Now it has 512 GB for a great price. The fact that this SSD has already an iOS Version installed facilitates that the MacBook can boot right up. Make sure you back up your old SSD first, install the new SSD, then upgrade to the latest possible iOS and finally restore your backup. Instructions for all this are provided with the new SSD.

Should be great, but it's not.
Well, I'm on my second one, after the first had so many disk errors that it ground my system to a halt and files would randomly and regularly corrupt. On the assumption that I got a random bad SSD, I got a replacement from Amazon, the process was super easy. Update: second unit seems to be working just fine. No corrupted files, upon first log in iCloud goes a little nuts trying to resync, give it a bit of time to calm down and then all's well.

Skeptical at first - pleasantly surprised in the end.
Being burned on OWC SSDs in the past I was skeptical of this Feather SSD. Simple clone and install - I was up and running quick. No issues in use after the clone. Solid as a rock since. I use this Macbook Air for LogicX in my studio and the SSD performs like I need it to. Overall I'm pleasantly surprised and will buy again.

My daughter's MacBook Air SSD died and would not recover so needed to buy a replacement. There were cheaper and larger capacity SSDs around but I decided to go with the Feather SSD based on the reviews and the fact it came pre-loaded with Mac OS. Replacement was simple and straightforward - 8 torex screws on the back cover and one torex screw on the SSD itself. Fired up straightaway and then all I had to do was upgrade the OS. The replacement took less than ten minutes.

Funziona senza alcun problema , attenzione per farlo funzionare va partizionato con al massimo la 10.12 altrimenti viene visto ma non fa installare OSX

A friend's MacBook Air died. Looking at the history of that particular model it seems there was a recall some years ago for the drives failing. I was able to boot into a USB drive, so concluded the hard drive had failed and the motherboard was still functioning. The 2012 model turns out to have been one of those "interim" models where they used a certain type (M12) of SSD, so I was lucky to have found this one on Amazon. I could have bought a larger capacity model for the same price but this one came with OSX High Sierra pre-installed, and the description of the ad confirmed it is the correct one. The packaging was very nice - a pleasant touch, given that many electronics components seem to just arrive in a plastic bag these days. So that was a nice surprise. It took less than 5 minutes to remove the old drive, install this one then boot into the operating system. The two screw drivers are very good quality and fitted their slots very well indeed. I am very pleased with the whole thing; my friend is delighted, as the Apple store he went to had told him the MacBook was dead. It wasn't; and now the laptop is very happy indeed. TL;DR - based on my experience I can happily recommend this product.

I am very happy with the product. I was quoted $450 to $600 with $250 for labour. Apple told me they do not make SSD drive for older Mac. This is the best solution you have for $110 and 15 minutes of work my MacBook Air works better than before. The DYI kit came with SSD drive and 2 Screwdrivers and easy to read installation guide with the probable problems and how to fix it. Their website has a the video for installation very easy to do. Apple Best Buy London Drugs Apple certified technical staff quoted $250 for 10 mins works ridiculous!! Apple should look at these people and have guidelines forth for overcharging for Apple repair. Thank you FLEDGING for helping common people.
