WHAT HAPPENED? Yuck! I’ve been buying the 1 lbs bag over and over for a year now. The lemon flavor used to delicious. This most current batch May 2025 tastes of chemicals. It tastes like the smell of gasoline. This was my go to since I like to steer clear of “natural flavors” and the lemon flavor uses actual lemon . Now I am concerned something went wrong with their quality control. Edit: 8/17/2025 I ended up leaving the bag open for a few weeks in my pantry. I decided to give them another try and the chemical taste was gone. The xylitol crystals were now a mild lemon flavor. I’m starting to think this last batch had a concentrated amount of lemon oil, and as the lemon oil evaporated, the taste became palatable. Edit 1/1/2026 I’ve ordered these a few more times and the lemon flavor has been consistently delicious. The May 2025 batch was just off. The peppermint flavor is also very good and only has two ingredients. I’ll continue to buy these since they have minimal ingredients and high xylitol content. I like that there are no dyes. My kids love them and it’s an easy way to promote good oral health and keep them cavity free! They love eating a “rock candy” after lunch and before bed.

Received my second order of a bag of lemon a bag of cinnamon just before Christmas. My first order was great and I thought I would be a customer for life. The second bag of lemon is just awful, tastes like turpentine or the like. The bag of cinnamon is just fine. I reached out to customer service four times, no reply even to a phone message. So, I finally decided to leave this review. I won’t order again because it’s too expensive to throw a complete one-pound bag away. I will find a different brand. I’ve read other reviews that an off-tasting batch has happened to them. So buyer beware…an awful taste is not normal because my first batch was great.

I use these for dry mouth and they work great, plus they have great flavor. I have two recommendations, however. Since the small pieces can settle to the bottom, give the bag a gentle mixing while on its side to more evenly disperse the various sizes. Secondly, don’t use the cinnamon flavored. It is too strong and can irritate your nasal passages. I learned this the hard way and had to go to the hospital. I could barely talk for about three days.

I’ve been conscious to consume xylitol after meals these days and my last bag of this brand has been finished. I liked the cherry flavor if you can call it a flavor it’s more just a hint. I’ve tried the lemon and I’m not disappointed, but it’s definitely not an overwhelming lemon taste, which is fine the candies themselves vary in size so if you’re a stickler for exact measurements, you’ll have to crack out your scale.

Edit: the company reached out to me and replaced it. The new ones are way better. I'm still only leaving a 3 star review because they still don't have a ton of strawberry flavor and the weird cardboard flavor is still slightly there. Great texture though. I don't know if there is something wrong with mine, but they taste and smell like dusty cardboard (closest thing I could think of). There is no way this is the intended flavor so I think something is seriously wrong. I get a vague strawberry flavor but it is so overpowered by this old dusty flavor. I have been experimenting with making my own xylitol candies and I can tell you that I haven't tasted this in mine or any other brand. 0/10 terrible experience.

UPDATE!! The new batch that came in Jan 2026 is really, really good. They have a mild but noticeable lemon flavour that tastes like lemon, not cleaner like last time. Keep this one going guys!! Original post from July 2020: At first, I was really disappointed with the smell and flavour, same as other reviews mentioning a weird flavour, almost chemical like. My child insisted it's only yucky on the outside, the 'powder' coating. So, I tried RINSING AND DRYING some crystals and that made all the difference! There is still a hint of lemon, I put it in a new container, and am totally loving these now. They do have a bit of an earthy tone, like something from a birch tree might, but I personally love that about them - they taste natural!

These are soooooo good. The watermelon taste is crisp and delicious and I like that it is more of a rock candy meaning I can pick different sizes. The tin cases are handy and I like that a refill pack is available (though not in stock now). My mouth is constantly dry and I frequently need to be sucking on something or drinking so it’s not too dry. I like the fact that these are sugar free so I’m not constantly consuming sugar but the xylitol used to sweeten it actually helps me produce more saliva and when I use these I don’t need to use nearly as often as other things to suck on. My only problem is that I go through them quick as everyone else in the house (kids and adults) love these, so they disappear quickly between the 6 of us. These are good for my mouth and are very enjoyable

I HAVE bought these before and they were GREAT! :-) BUT, they haven't been in stock for a while and now when I purchased them they are different. The chips/pieces are huge and taste like chemicals instead of the delightful lemon oil flavour. Was the recipe changed or made too quickly to restock? I would not have written this poor review if it could be returned. Actually I was going to buy 2 bags. Thank goodness I didn't. At this price, $42.99 a bag, the gamble isn't worth it. Buyer beware please. :-(
