High Quality at Low Price Point!
I purchased this as a Christmas present for my four kids and it turns out that the entire family, myself and Dad included, absolutely LOVE this little drum! We've been playing with it for several weeks now and I'm surprised something of such high-quality is offered at such a reasonable price point. The drum itself looks exactly as it does in the image and is visually attractive to both children and adults alike. It's one toy I don't mind having to look at laying around the house! The fun rainbow-colored mallet is included. The product is perfectly-sized for use by a variety of ages, not too big for my little girls and not too small for us adults. You can tell this is a well-made product by the perfect roundness of the drumhead, how sturdily it is constructed, and, of course, by the superior sound. I see no safety issues that have prevented me from allowing with my one- and two-year-olds to play with it. The only "problem" is that they have been known to the lick the drum while saying "yum lollipop" haha. Luckily for the rest of us this drum is made to withstand a few wipe downs here and there! Based on my experience with this product I'll definitely be making a future purchase of another Remo instrument!

AWESOME little drum, super quick shipping
got this for my 18 month old son so he wouldn't be totally left out on big sis's birthday. he is pretty musically inclined, and of course he loved it. it is really cute, but not chintzy or cheap or "kiddie"- except in the sweet lollipop motif of course :) it sounds pretty nice i must say, i am impressed. the mallet it comes with is adorable, a colorful rainbow. but just so you know it is actually foam on the mallet, which my son is just barely past that age where he would want to eat it, it just looks tooooo inviting. so if you are giving this to a little one or there is a baby in the home, you might just try covering it with a patch of thin material and tying that around the top, i think it would still work well enough. otherwise it is soft enough that those sharp little baby teeth could take a bite out of it pretty easily. really i would recommend it for 18 months and up, as it comes on a handle which some little ones would love to just whack things with it. even my little angel does that from time to time :) i do recommend remo's little kid's tom drum for babies (and up), it is the perfect size for them to sit up to. as long as you're like me and you actually prefer the sounds of your kids banging on drums, playing with a xylophone, and strumming a guitar, you will love this- it can pack quite a punch (it isn't quiet- duh!). i take this over those annoying battery operated toys that play some shrill snippet over and over.....my kid's playing really is music to my ears ;) ENJOY!!

Solid Enough Toy Drum, Labels Peel easily
This is one of three drums I purchased April 29th of this year to work with our son on some targeted music therapy and habilitation imitation goals. The other two were more traditional hand drums. This one I purchased because I thought it would be most useful for imitation type activities, because I knew the handle would make this one easier for him to hold and keep upright independently. So, day one: He wouldn't touch it. Looked too different from any of his other drums. Day two, he was willing to bang it as part of imitation exercises in conjunction with his hab program. By day three, he was trying to eat the foam ball on top of the mallet. So, the foam ball actually is very easily damaged by teeth, which is nothing unexpected given the substance. It does produce a good enough sound tone for a toy drum, surprisingly good actually. So if you have a chewer, the mallet is one you will have to watch carefully. For now, we are sticking with hand strikes on this one. So when it comes to hand striking this drum, you have to use knuckles and nock to get it to produce a good sound. A flat hand the sound is quite muted unless you strike with finger tips alone. So this is something you can use however you need to if you have a child that is sensitive to sound. So this hasn't seen super heavy use, but we have been using it every day, some for some neurological music therapy exercises targeting his vestibular, and some targeting imitation goals. About two days ago, I noticed the label covering the handle peeling. So there seem to be two labels on the handle. Since the first one was peeling off, and my son's fine motor has progressed enough he can pull of labels and tape if they are starting that way, I peeled it off so he wouldn't try to eat it when I had my back turned. And the designs on the handle are in place via another label, one that is easily squished and moved by my fingers. So I covered it with packing tape. This is a cosmetic issue, as it seems that the handle is a solid plastic tube, so I wasn't as concerned about it for me. But I pass this along in case this is something that bothers you or you would be worried about if you were giving a gift. Now this is the drum he prefers over the hand drums, though I have been using all three with him, I think because of the handle and it being easier to hold. So I find it useful, it seems solidly made, and both my children like it.

Great quality
My 14 year old special needs son LOVES this drum and is very hard on it, beating it on everything to explore the sound. It is holding up beautifully!

Fun and Whimsical Musical Drum Instrument
This is a very whimsical musical drum! I bought it for my toddlers and I'm tempted to buy a second one. The value is terrific. The mallet strikes the lollipop decorated portion of the drum with incredible tone and musical accuracy. Perfect for young children who love to march to the beat of their own drum! My son especially took a licking to it. Yes, that's right. He wanted to eat it and started licking the drum. Once he realized there was no actual lollipop flavor, he decided to chew on the mallet! That alone was priceless to watch! He gave up after a while and started using it for what it is intended and hasn't put it down since. The size is also perfect! This particular drum comes in several sizes. We purchased the 10" and it's the perfect size! I'm also contemplating getting one in the 8" as well just for a little diversity. We enjoy it very much and it has added much creativity to our growing set of toddler musical instruments!

Es muy buena compra, suena muy bien. Lo único que me preocupa es la duración del parche, pero como en todos estos materiales. En general estoy muy contenta y a los niños les encanta!!!

We bought this for our 18 month old who is attending Rhythm Time baby music classes and loves banging the drums. Not quite sure what I was thinking when I decided to bring the noise into our home but the bab loves this. It isn't cheap but then again you can tell it is well made and I expect it will last a long time. The bab has put a few teeth marks in the beater by trying to chew it but that's what you get for giving something soft to a teething baby. To be fair they are only little dents and it still plays just fine. It is quite big and fairly heavy so we hold the drum up while the bab whacks it we glee, which is fine as that's just the same as we do at class. Overall, I am very pleased and I'm sure the bab would recommend. 5 Stars.
