It's a cheap toy.
Bought for my child who enjoyed it but didn't understand that sub marine means that it goes under the water and not staying on top. Little learning curve. The on/off switch is two exposed contacts. Then the contacts make contact with the water, the motors turn on. When you remove it from the water, they turn off. There isn't a lot that you can do with it. Emphasis on cheap. I wanted to know if we'd have fun with something like this and this was a very cheap way to try it out. If we like it, we can splurge for a more expensive unit.

FAILED ON FIRST USE.
Sunk on maiden voyage. It’s supposed to float when not powered. Seemed to work OK at first but then after a minute or so, sunk on the bottom of the pool. After retrieving the item I note that the battery was still good. Shaking the item revealed there was water inside. When I took it out of the box Inread the instructions thoroughly I did think it was odd that it included a section of how to dry out the sub IF it happened to get water inside it. It involved taking the thing apart and using a hair dryer. Ok. Now I know why it was included in the instructions. It’s a piece of junk! Sorry. I have better things to do than take this thing apart after every run. Of course, I’m sending it back.

Fun toy for kids in the pool
You get what you pay for, and this was inexpensive, but fun for our grandson. It doesn't really dive and surface they way they make it sound, though it does zoom around in the water and the controller works, though I'm not sure how long it will last, but more because I'm expecting the kids to drop it into the water at some time.

I’m happy with this pocket sub
So far the unit has survived the 48 inch deep pool. I find that I loose connection to the sub when it’s at the bottom of the pool so keep in mind the RF signal doesn’t penetrate water that well. But if you stay about 2-3 ft max then it’s a pretty cool little you got the price. The sub is about 2.5 -3 inches or so long and just as wide. The remote Control is larger.

Dimensions approx, width 3.25" Length 4.25" height 1.5"
Firstly, understanding the physical size first would be good as much smaller than anticipated. Unit is designed for a fish tank with its max dive depth of 12 to 20 inches. Designed to constantly dive, while it does turn it does so while diving and reverse does not necessarily mean surfacing either. It will resurface though. Overall it is what they vaguely say and will not return, if only because it took months to get. Definitely not a state side product. Fun for a fish tank, Care for fishes too as props are exposed, swimming pool is pushing it yet possibly the best place and forget about a lake. More an adult curiosity.

It’s not very fun
I hate it so much. It was so tiny, and it doesn’t even go in water. It sinks down to the bottom and then it doesn’t come back up it ruined itself one dive.

Small RC submersible
Great item if you want a small submersible craft. The RC charges the boat however it does require some AA batteries. Works great and quite fast.
